3 Canadian HR Reporter, a HAB Press business 2020 Effective June 1, 2021: 2% Effective June 1, 2022: 2.25% Shift premium: $0.50 per hour worked on Saturday shifts (5 8-hour days Tuesday to Saturday) for Tuesday to Friday; $3 per hour for Saturday hours. Employees will receive 40 hours of pay plus $2 per hour worked on Sunday shifts (36-hour week consisting of 3 12-hour days Saturday to Monday). $0.60 per hour for OFA (occupational first aid) level 1. $1.10 per hour for designated OFA level 2. $3.25 per hour for lead-hands. $2.40 per hour for field work. $2 per hour for afternoon shift. $4 per hour for permanent afternoon shift. $0.50 per hour per hour worked Tuesday to Friday for Tuesday to Saturday shift. $3 per hour for all Saturday hours worked. $2 per hour for Sunday hours. $2.50 per hour for mid-day shift (parts). Paid holidays: 12 days including Christmas Eve Day. Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 80 hours after 1 year, 3 weeks or 120 hours after 3 years, 4 weeks or 160 hours after 9 years, 5 years or 200 hours after 15 years, 6 weeks or 240 hours after 20 years. (New employees, after 6 months of employment, will be eligible to take 1 week of 2 weeks' vacation that would be available to them after 1 year of employment). Overtime: Time and one-half for first 2 hours of work in excess of regular scheduled hours or first 2 hours on first day of rest. Double time for all work after 2 hours of overtime or for hours worked on second and subsequent days of rest. Meal allowance: $20 in lieu of hot meal should overtime be in excess of 4 hours. Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Paramedical: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage (chiropractor, osteopath, naturopath, massage therapist, speech therapist, physiotherapist, psychologist/ social worker, podiatrist/ chiropodist, acupuncturist, audiologist, occupational therapist). Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 90% of basic earn- ings for 26 weeks commencing on first day of disability due to non-occupational accident or on tenth day due to personal illness. LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 60% of first $3,500 of monthly earnings, plus 50% of next $4,500, plus 40% of balance, maximum $8,000 per month of regular earnings after 26 weeks of STD. AD&D: Employee pays 100% of premiums. Life insurance: Employee pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 2 times annual earnings, maximum $700,000 (previously maximum $500,000). Pension: Employee will be required to participate in employer's pension plan and will be required to contribute 5% of the employee's pay for all hours worked to plan. Employer will pay 6% of the employee's pay for all hours worked to plan (previously employer, employee contributed 4% each). Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (mother, father, foster-parents, brothers, sisters, spouse, children, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandmother, grandfather, adult interdependent partner (common-law spouse), stepparents, stepchildren, stepsiblings). Additional 2 days if required to travel out- of-province to attend funeral. Employees may request additional 5 unpaid days (which may be converted to vacation time later). Seniority – recall rights: Time equal to employee's seniority or 12 months, whichever is least. 6 months for employees absent from work due to disability. Lesser of 1 year or seniority for employees who transfer to positions outside bargaining unit within Calgary branch. Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours of pay at applicable rate for service-department employees; minimum 2 hours of pay for parts-department employees. Double time for all call-ins on Sundays for parts-department employees. Probationary period: 180 calendar days worked. Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for written-warning notices which will be destroyed after 2 years. Severance: 2 weeks per year of service upon layoff, maximum 6 months. If taken within 12 months of employee's recall rights, then recall rights will be exhausted and employee will be terminated from service. Safety shoes: Employer will reimburse each employee $225 multiplied by number of years in the contract period, for the purchase of safety boots or shoes. Uniforms/clothing: All employees required to wear coveralls or smocks will have 11 clean sets supplied every 2 weeks by employer. Employer will supply winter equipment including correctly fitting winter coveralls, winter gloves for each service truck; 3 parkas, 2 sets of winter coveralls for service department; 1 pair of gloves per year for all service- department technicians; 2 parkas for parts department, 1 pair of winter gloves for each parts-department employee. Tool allowance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for tool-insurance coverage to each eligible employee, maximum $30,000, with $100 deductible per loss. Employer will repair, replace air-impact, torque wrenches used exclusively in employer's business. Employer will provide $500 per year for mechanics. Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 7.5% increase): Service department Journeyperson mechanic HET (heavy-equipment technician): $44.36 rising 4 steps to $47.66 Power-generator technician: $44.36 rising 4 steps to $47.66 Red Deer field-service technician: $44.36 rising 4 steps to $47.66 Apprentice HET First year: $29.29 rising 4 steps to $31.47 Second year: $35.13 rising 4 steps to $37.75 Third year: $37.94 rising 4 steps to $40.76 Labourer/maintenance/ mechanics/helper: $23.50 rising 4 steps to $25.25 Parts department Journeyperson parts person: $40.15 rising 4 steps to $43.14 Apprentice parts person First year: $30.36 rising 4 steps to $32.62 Second year: $34.22 rising 4 steps to $36.77 Third year: $38.14 rising 4 steps to $40.98 Shipper and receiver: $27.32 rising 4 steps to $29.35 Pick-up driver: $22.80 rising 4 steps to $24.50 Warehouse person: $19.77 rising 4 steps to $21.24 Editor's notes: On-call: $300 per week to field-service technician designated to be on call. $200 per week to parts- department employee designated to be on call. Transportation and expenses: Employees who work outside regular home branch (Calgary or Red Deer) and do not return daily, will be paid all transportation, accommodation, meal expenses (if not provided, maximum value $60). Rental vehicle option will be provided to employee who travels on employer business. Employee may choose to use personal vehicle for travel and be reimbursed mileage at current rate of reimbursement. Medical notes: Employer will reimburse employee cost of any doctor's notes required by employer or insurance provider, maximum $75.
