working minimum 4-hour shift. Double time for hours worked beyond 12 hours for schedule E police guard em- ployees. $0.50 for each hour, minimum 2 hours, to work on asphalt spray truck; hot- mix paving; use of herbicides and pesticides; handling of cold-mix paving; handling of chlorine; road marking (paint- ing); concrete and cement work; collection of outside garbage; clean and sanitize area, exclusive of sinks, toilets and urinals, that is grossly contaminated with blood or other human bodily fluids. $0.75 for each hour, minimum 2 hours, when working with sewage; working in wastewater system facilities and collection systems including all ancillary wastewater equipment and infrastructure, excluding of- fice facilities. $0.75 for each hour, minimum 2 hours, when working in confined space dealing with sewage; working within asbestos work-zone protective boundary; repairing broken sewage line. Double time for all hours worked on full-body disinterments. Paid holidays: 12 days. In lieu of 12 statutory holidays, po- lice guards, watch clerks, po- lice-records services coordin- ators, records clerks, airport shift personnel, parks special- ists 1 and 2 will be granted an- nual allotment of hours on Jan. 1 of each year. Vacations with pay: 15 days or 6% to start, 20 days or 8% after 6 years, 25 days or 10% after 14 years, 30 days or 12% after 21 years, 35 days or 14% after 29 years. Employees will receive 5 supplemental vaca- tion days for each 5 years of consecutive service complet- ed; 10 supplemental vacation days for each 5 years of con- secutive service completed after 20 years of service. Em- ployees who have taken min- imum 15 days of vacation leave by Dec. 31 may bank 1 week of unused vacation allotment, maximum 26 weeks. Overtime: Time and one-half for first 3 hours of work be- yond regular workdays; double time after 3 hours of overtime. Time and one-half for first 1 hour of work beyond regular workdays; double time there- after for schedule F airport employees. Double time for hours worked beyond 11 hours for schedule E watch clerk employees; time and one-half for first 2 hours after 9 hours on night shift, double time thereafter. Time and one-half for first hour worked after 10- hour shift, double time there- after for schedule E police records services coordinator and records clerk employees. Time may be banked and taken as time off in lieu, maximum 15 working days banked at any 1 time. Meal allowance: $17 if em- ployee is required to work 2 hours beyond scheduled work shift or is called in without 12 hours' previous notice and who works not on scheduled work shift. Additional $17 for every 4-hour period. Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Dental: Employer pays 70% of premiums, employee pays 30% of premiums. Sick leave: 1.25 days per month. On termination or retirement after 2 years of service, employee will be paid one-third of accumulated leave; one-third or 1 month's pay, whichever is greater, after 5 years of service. Life insurance: Employer pays 80% of premiums, employee pays 20% of premiums. Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of spouse, parent, child. 3 days for death of sibling, par- ent-in-law, son-in-law, daugh- ter-in-law, grandparents. Maximum one-half day to attend as pallbearer or mourn- er at funeral of deceased City of Campbell River employee, provided minimal depart- mental staff is maintained. Seniority – recall rights: 18 months for layoffs; 3 months for transfer to position outside bargaining unit. Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours' pay at overtime rates (when employee commences work, employer will pay min- imum 3 hours' pay at overtime rates). Probationary period: 6 calen- dar months from date of hire. Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years for disciplinary nota- tions. Safety shoes: $450 every 24 months (previously $200 per year) for approved safety foot- wear. Uniforms/clothing: Survey vests will be provided for survey crews. Coveralls will be provided for mechanics, carpenters, sewage-treatment plant operators, waterworks, patching, road marking, ce- ment-finishing crews. Tool allowance: $0.30 per hour worked for tradesperson who supplies own tools.
