ployee's regular hourly wages for all hours worked as quali- fied early childhood educator who is appointed as designate employee in charge when centre supervisor or assistant supervisor is off-site or absent from work. Paid holidays: 12 days, includ- ing 3 float days. In first year of employment, float days are prorated as 1 day every 4 completed working months of employment. Vacations with pay: 15 days to start, 18 weeks after 5 years, 21 days after 10 years, 25 days after 15 years, 26 days after 20 years. Overtime: Time and one-half for hours worked in excess of 44 in 1 week, authorized in advance whenever possible. Compensatory time off at time and one-half will be offered if scheduling permits. Meal allowance: $15 (previ- ously $10) for employees re- quired to work in evening with prior approval for doing so. Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for ex- tended health care coverage. Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage similar to Blue Cross #9 and based upon current ODA fees. Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $300 for prescription eyeglasses, contact lenses, laser eye sur- gery for employee and depen- dants. Sick leave: 1.5 days per month of employment, up to 18 days per year (previous maximum 16 days per year). Cumulative to maximum of 45 working days. 1 full day may be used to cover necessary appointments. STD: Commence on day 8 of illness or injury at 66 2/3% with 33 1/3% topped up from employee's sick day bank, to maximum of 30 days after com- mencement of absence (previ- ous maximum 15 days). LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage for 66 2/3% of monthly salary, up to $2,000, beginning on first day of work lost due to accident and eighth day of work lost due to sickness. Payable for 2 years while employee is disabled and unable to perform normal work, and beyond 2 years if em- ployee is unable to perform any occupation. AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage equal to employee's life insurance. Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 2 times employee's annual earnings rounded up to highest $1,000, reduced to $10,000 at age 65. Coverage ends at age 70. Pension: Employees pay 4% of applicable wages and employer matches. Bereavement leave: 5 working days for death of spouse, same- sex partner, parent, legal guard- ian, child, stepchild. 4 working days for death of sibling, grand- parent, parent-in-law, child-in- law, sibling-in-law, grandchild. 1 working day for death of aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, step-parent, grandparent-in- law. In special circumstances, employer may grant unpaid extension. For employees travelling outside province for funeral services, such leave will also include unpaid reasonable travelling time, not to exceed 10 working days. Seniority – recall rights: 18 months after layoffs; 24 months for working non-bargaining unit position or for being ab- sent from work due to sickness or injury. Probationary period: 640 hours worked. When mutually agreed, longer probationary period may be arranged. Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months following disciplin- ary action including letters of reprimand or adverse reports and 18 months following sus- pension. Severance: When permanent reduction of workforce occurs, employer will give notice or pay in lieu and severance pay as required by Employment Stan- dards Act, plus 1 month's no- tice or pay in lieu for less than 5 years of service, 2 months' no- tice or pay for 5 years of service, 4 months' notice or pay for 15 years of service. Full-time child care centre employees receive 2 paid leave days per calendar year for professional development for specified purposes relating directly to function being performed by employee. Client lunches: When it is necessary for home child care coordinator to purchase lunch for themselves in order to interview client at lunch, employee will be reimbursed for cost of own lunch, maximum $15. Employee childcare discount: Bargaining unit employees are entitled to 25% discount on all Family Day Care Services programs for which fee subsidy is not received.
