be paid at overtime rates for first shift worked if less than 24 hours' notice is provided for staffing problems requir- ing change of shift. $0.75 per hour will be paid to all certi- fied members of emergency response team. $0.75 per hour will be paid to all employees holding valid advanced first-aid tickets (premium will be com- pounded should employee be on emergency response team). $280 per week to all apprentice employees who take any course which will lead to ticket, cer- tificate or license or any other authorized training program. $0.80 per hour (previously $0.70 per hour) for all hours worked outside recognized period of 12-hour day shift. $0.50 per hour for hours worked as relief team leader. $0.50 per hour for lead-hands. $0.50 to any journey person who has achieved more than 1 of journey person trades certifications utilized at site. $2 per hour for all hours spent as trainer conducting formal train- ing classes. Paid holidays: 11 days, plus 1 floating holiday (any floater not taken within calendar year will be paid out in first pay period in January). Vacations with pay: 3 weeks or 6% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 8% after 3 years, 4 weeks or 9% after 7 years, 5 weeks or 11% after 15 years, 6 weeks or 13% after 24 years, 7 weeks or 15% after 30 years. Employees may carry forward 1 week of vacation from 1 period to next. Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 44 hours per week or hours worked on scheduled rest day; time and one-half for safety meetings if held on off time for shift workers. Time and one-half for work after 40 hours per week or 8 or 10 hours per day; time and one-half for hours worked on Sunday or hours worked on scheduled rest day for day workers. Meal allowance: $15 and 1 half hour, paid in lieu, if employee works more than 2 hours of unscheduled overtime immedi- ately following scheduled shift (alternatively meal will be pro- vided with time to consume it). Medical benefits: Employer will pay 100% of premiums for Alberta Health Care coverage. Dental: $2,500 for sections 1, 2 and 3; $3,000 for section 4 coverage. 60% coverage for or- thodontics. Vision: $300 per employee or eligible family member in any 24-month period; once every 12 months for dependants 18 years old or younger. Effective April 1, 2024: $350 per employee or eligible family member in any 24-month period. Paramedical: $400 each (physi- cian's note no longer needed for massage therapy). Weekly indemnity: Cover- age of 70% of normal weekly straight-time earnings or $447 per week, whichever is greater, payable from first day for ac- cidents or hospitalizations and from fourth day for illness for 26 weeks. LTD: Employer pays 50% of pre- miums, employee pays 50% of premiums. AD&D: Coverage of $100,000. Life insurance: Coverage of $100,000. Pension: DB plan. DC plan for all employees hired or rehired after Jan. 1, 2019 (employee contributes 6%, employer con- tributes 7.25% or employee may choose to contribute less and employer will contribute less in response). Bereavement leave: 3 full shifts for death in immediate family (spouse, mother, father, broth- ers, sisters, sons, daughters, mother-in-law, father-in-law, stepparents, grandparents, great grandparents of employee, grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, stepchildren, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandparents-in-law, great grandparents-in-law, legal guardian). Additional shift if employee travels more than 500 kilometres to attend funeral. Seniority – recall rights: 8 months to start; 1 year after 1 year of service, plus 1 additional month for each year of service, up to additional 6 months. Call-in pay: Time and one-half for all hours worked on emer- gency job or 4 hours of pay at time and one-half, whichever is greater. Time and one-half for all hours worked for employee called to work on day off. Probationary period: 90 calen- dar days. Discipline: Sunset clause is 1 year for documentation of disciplinary verbal and writ- ten warnings; 18 months for documentation of suspensions; 24 months for harassment and safety infractions which could have caused death or life-alter- ing injury. Severance: 80 hours of straight- time pay for each year of service and thereafter for partial years in increments of completed months of service, maximum 2,080 hours of pay. Safety shoes: $200 per year for hard-toed, industrial strength, high-top, lace-up safety boots. Employees may defer all or por- tion of amount into next year for maximum total credit of $400. Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide to all employees: aprons (for grinding room employees), hardhats and lin- ers, respiratory protection, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves appropriate for task. When weather presents need for outdoor wear, employer will make available reasonable num- ber of sets of outdoor wear for use by employees on loan-out basis. Employer provide incum- bent yard operators, mobile me- chanics outdoor wear to keep and use at work. Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after increase): Labour/janitor: $30 rising 4 steps to $32.87 Operator: $32.55 rising 4 steps to $35.67 Local purchasing: $32.55 rising 4 steps to $35.94 Forklift operator (shipping): $33.13 rising 4 steps to $36.30 Grinderman: $34.29 rising 4 steps to $37.57 Log-yard operator: $34.14 rising 4 steps to $37.41 Green end lead-hand: $36.48 rising 4 steps to $39.97 Oiler: $35.74 rising 4 steps to $39.16 Finishing end lead-hand: $36.48 rising 4 steps to $39.97 Volcano (with fourth-class): $38.97 rising 4 steps to $43.24 Tradesman: $43.87 rising 4 steps to $49.11 Apprentice first year: $32.41 ris- ing 4 steps to $35.51 Apprentice second year: $34.49 rising 4 steps to $37.79 Apprentice third year: $36.57 rising 4 steps to $40.07 Apprentice fourth year: $38.66 rising 4 steps to $42.36 Lab tech: $35.74 rising 4 steps to $39.16 Control room: $37.82 rising 4 steps to $41.44 Chief power engineer (with third-class or temporary third- class): $43.87 rising 4 steps to $49.11 Editor's notes: Safety glasses: Employer will provide safety glasses to all employees who require corrective lenses (usual and customary cost of eye exams will be paid by employer). Safety glasses will be repaired by employer as required or replaced every 24 months unless change is made to prescription. Fees: Employer will pay cost of licenses, certificates, tickets which employees require in performance of regular duties. Reimbursement will be made for any time lost when examination or special schooling is required to obtain licenses, certificates or tickets. Medical travel allowance: For travel for more than 400 kilometres round- trip from Edson as per income tax act rules: $600 per family over term of collective agreement; maximum $400 per year. Medi- cal notes: Employer will pay up to $30 per form for each employee for medical forms filled out by doctor when requested by employer or employer's insurance carrier. Christmas period work: $200 per shift for work between 6:30 p.m. Dec. 24 through 6:30 p.m. Dec. 26.
