Rice Both keyboard and mouse clicks shortcuts can save time and increase productivity. Most administrative professionals know a handful of shortcuts such as Ctrl+x (cut), Ctrl+c (copy), Ctrl+v (paste). Take one new shortcut each week, use it often, and soon it will be part of your daily regime. Here are some common shortcuts you may appreciate. For more shortcuts, go to Office Help (F1) and type "keyboard shortcuts." Have fun! WINDOWS • Ctrl+d (Show desktop) • Windows + right or left arrow – "snap" the windows to half screen size (side by side) • Technique – Click & Shift+Click, Click & Ctrl+Click, Click&Drag – use these everywhere! MS OFFICE • F1 (Help from within an Office program) • F4 (Repeat last action) • F7 (Spelling) • F12 (Save As) • Ctrl+z (Undo the last action) • Ctrl+y (redo the last action) • Ctrl+p (Print) • Ctrl+b (Make letters bold) • Ctrl+i (Make letters italic) • Ctrl+u (Underline) • Ctrl+s (Save) • Ctrl+left arrow (Move one word to the left) • Ctrl+right arrow (Move one word to the right) • Esc (Cancel) WORD • Shift+F3 (Change case) • Select text using margin area – Click&Drag to select lines and double click to select paragraphs • Double Click tips – ruler (Page Setup dialog box), tab stops (Tabs dialog box), margin stops (Paragraph dialog box) • Select table, hit Backspace key (Removes table plus content) Carol D� Rice Carol D.
