In a recent blog, Impraise says that executives are looking to HR to help elevate the employee experi- ence by making the organization's people data much more human, by telling stories about real people and what real-life factors turn them on or off. Impraise has a lot at stake because its main thrust is a web-based and mobile application for "action- able, real-time feedback in the workplace." Just so you know where they're coming from. The Impraise blog suggests organizations can ap- ply learning that already exists in the organization "to create a totally customized and unique experience" for employees. Look to the marketing department, for example, for the "customer journey maps" that describe each touchpoint customers go through until they make the decision to buy. Then substitute "employee" for "customer." Just as customers have shown a willingness to pay more for better quality or service, employees (in a Fidelity Investments survey) said they'd take a cut in pay "in exchange for immaterial incentives like purposeful work, work/life balance and company culture." And just as marketing creates personas to de - scribe customers and potential customers, why not think about specific employees to get a better sense of what they are actually experiencing at various stages or in various aspects of their employment? "People analytics is not just data," proclaims the Impraise blog. "The most important skill HR will need to learn is how to make HR data human," to translate its metrics "into stories that explain to the executive level what your employees are going through and what the company needs to do to improve."
