CONSTRUCTION Nova Scotia Construction Labour Relations Association Provincewide, Nova Scotia (1,200 carpenters, carpenter apprentices, working foremen, lather, interior systems mechanics, acoustical work- ers) and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America (UBC), Local 83 Renewal agreement: Effective May 23, 2018, to April 30, 2021. Signed on Aug. 8, 2018. Shift premium: 15% when em- ployee works 2 or more shifts of work within 24 hours, or for work performed between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. Paid holidays: 10 days. Vacations with pay: Vacation and holiday allowance of 8% will be paid to each employee in lieu of paid vacations. Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after regular hours. Double time for all work after 8 hours on Saturday, for all work on Sunday and holidays. Double time for all work after 40 hours per week. Meal allowance: $22.50 (pre- viously $20) when employees work in excess of 10 hours in 1 day. Medical benefits: Employer contributes $2.25 per hour (previously $2 per hour) to health and welfare plan. Pension: Employer contrib- utes $5.89 per hour (previously $5.86) to pension plan. Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours' pay at double time. Probationary period: Pro- bationary worker must have worked minimum 1,000 hours in carpentry trade and will be assessed after 160 hours worked. Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide rain suits (in clean condition), safety goggles, safe- ty harnesses with proper safety lines; employer will supply hard hats if employers wish employ- ees to wear specific colour for hard hats. Tool allowance: Employer will replace lost tools due to fire or theft (by forcible entry) while such tools are under employer's lock and key. Mileage: $0.55 per kilometre for all travel after 75 kilometres from employee's home to job site. For employees who travel more than 115 kilometres from home to job site, subsistence allowance will be paid: $126 per day worked. Effective May 1, 2019: $127 per day worked. Effective May 1, 2020: $129 per day worked. Employer will $51 per day if room and board are offered.
