3 Canadian HR Reporter, a Thomson Reuters business 2018 CANADIAN LABOUR REPORTER COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS < from pg. 1 Effective year 3: 2% Effective year 4: 2% Shift premium: $0.85 per hour for afternoon or second shift which normally will start after 3 p.m. $1.30 per hour for third or night shift, which normally will start after 11 p.m. $1.10 per hour to designated first-aid at- tendant and alternate on shift. Paid holidays: 13 days, plus 4 hours off with pay Christmas Eve; 4 hours off with pay New Year's Eve; 1 employee floating holiday. Floater not taken by year-end will be paid out. Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4.5% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6.5% after 2 years, 4 weeks or 8.5% after 7 years, 5 weeks or 10.5% after 15 years, 6 weeks or 12.5% after 24 years, 7 weeks or 14.5% after 30 years. Vacation bonus: 10-hour vacation-pay bonus will be paid when em- ployee takes first week of vaca- tion after fully qualifying for full vacation. Supplementary vacation pay: Employees who have completed 25 or more years of service will be granted extra vacation pay. Additional 2% vacation pay at 60; addi- tional 4% vacation pay at 61; additional 6% vacation pay at 62; additional 8% vacation pay at 63; additional 10% vacation pay at 64. Overtime: Time and one-half for all work beyond regular hours and on Saturdays. Double time for all work after 12 hours per 24-hour period or Sundays. May be banked, maximum 60 hours per year. Meal allowance: $12 (pre- viously $11) to employees required to work overtime as- signment of 2 hours or more and for every 4 hours thereafter. Meal allowance will be paid if employee works 4 hours or more on unplanned weekend overtime. Medical benefits: Employer pays 75% of premiums, em- ployee pays 25% of premiums. Employer pays 100% of premi- ums for Alberta Health Care. Prescription drugs: 80% reim- bursement of eligible expense. Dental: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums. Reimbursement of 80% of cost of following ex- penses: diagnostic, preventative therapy, oral surgery, minor- restorative dentistry, repairs of existing appliance, endodon- tics, periodontics. Reimburse- ment of 50% for other expenses. Orthodontics: No deductible; 50% payable; $2,000 maximum lifetime benefit per individual. Vision: $350 per family mem- ber (previously $300 per family member), in any 2 consecutive years for frames, lenses, fitting of prescription glasses (includ- ing contact lenses) as well as corrective eye surgery. STD: 70% of regular weekly earnings payable on first day for non-occupational accident, first day of hospitalization, fourth day for non-occupational sick- ness, payable for 52 weeks. LTD: 52-week waiting period for coverage of 60 months equalling 50% of basic wages, maximum $3,000 per month (previously $2,800 per month). Life insurance: Coverage of $95,000 (previously $85,000). Pension: Employee hired after Sept. 12, 2008, will participate in mandatory DC pension plan. Employer, employee will con- tribute 3.5% (4.5% after 15 years of service). Pension Plan for Unionized Employees for those hired before Sept. 12, 2008. Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (spouse, common-law spouse, same-sex partners, mother, father, children, adopted chil- dren). 3 days for death in ex- tended family (brother, sister, stepparents, stepbrother, step- sister, mother-in-law, father-in- law, stepchildren, grandparents, grandchildren). 1 day for death of brothers-in-law, sisters-in- law. Seniority – recall rights: Pe- riod equal to length of service or 1 year, whichever is lesser. Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours' pay at classification rate or ap- plicable overtime pay for all hours worked, whichever is greater Probationary period: 720 hours worked (must be worked in consecutive 6-month peri- od). Employees will be granted 1-day floater immediately after completing probation period. Discipline: Sunset clause is 6 months for verbal warning (minimum of 935 hours must be worked during this time); 12 months for written warnings (minimum of 1,875 hours must be worked during this time); 18 months for suspensions (mini- mum of 2,800 hours must be worked during this time). Severance: 1.5 week's pay for each year of employment for first 15 years; 1 week per year of employment thereafter, maxi- mum 45 weeks' pay. Safety shoes: $175 per year for 1 pair of safety ankle boots (as well as needed laces and inserts). May be carried over into following year, maximum $350. Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide coveralls to single- face operators, operators, baler operators, industrial mechanics, electricians, power engineers.
