3 Canadian HR Reporter, a Thomson Reuters business 2019 Shift premium: $1.15 per hour for all hours worked, including overtime hours, between 6 p.m. and midnight. $1.40 per hour for all hours worked, including overtime hours, between mid- night and 6 a.m. $1.40 per hour for work on Saturday, Sunday. Paid holidays: 10 days, plus first Monday in August. Vacations with pay: 3 weeks to start, 4 weeks after 7 years, 5 weeks after 14 years, 6 weeks after 21 years, 7 weeks after 28 years. For employees hired after May 12, 2014: 3 weeks to start, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 18 years, 6 weeks after 28 years. Unused time may be carried over into following year. Overtime: Time and one-half for first 2 hours of overtime, double time thereafter. Double time or 3 hours of pay min- imum, whichever is greater, for all work on day of rest. May be converted to compensatory leave and carried over into fol- lowing fiscal year if not used, but will be paid out if not used in that year. Meal allowance: $6.25 for work more than 2 hours over- time in excess of daily schedule or shift; additional one-half hour paid lunch (at time and one-half ) break after 3 hours of overtime. Medical benefits: Employer pays 95% of premiums, em- ployee pays 5% of premiums. Employer pays 80% of prescrip- tion drug expenses, employee pays 5%. Employer pays 70% per cent of provincial medical premium, employee pays 30%. Dental: Employer pays 95% of premiums, employee pays 5% of premiums. $1,000 maximum per year per person for basic. $2,000 maximum per year per person for major. $2,000 life- time maximum per child for orthodontic. Vision: Maximum $300 for each 4-year period. Lifetime maximum $300 for visual cor- rection by laser. Sick leave: 7 days. Bereavement leave: 4 days for death in immediate family (father, mother, stepfather, stepmother, foster-parent, brother, sister, spouse, common-law spouse resident with employee, child, child of common-law spouse, stepchild, ward of employee, father-in-law, mother-in-law, grandparents, grandparents of employee's spouse, grandchildren, any relative residing in employee's household). 1 day for death of son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law. Seniority – recall rights: Equivalent to length of senior- ity after 6 months of service; 2 years after 2 years of service; 4 years after 4 years of service. Call-in pay: 3 hours' pay at applicable overtime rate or compensation at applicable overtime rate (if period of over- time worked is not contiguous to scheduled hours), whichever is greater. Probationary period: 6 months. Discipline: Sunset clause is 1 year or 2 years.
