PM #40065782 Labour Reporter Canadian www.labour-reporter.com April 22, 2019 Winnipeg hospital worker fired after dancing while on sick leave A SONOGRAPHER at a Win- nipeg health centre was dismissed after the employer saw her per- forming cultural dances on You- Tube despite being off work due to a fractured wrist. Roshni Tailor worked at the Health Sciences Centre in Win- nipeg since September 2010, but on Jan. 14, 2017, she fractured her wrist while doing a dance routine. Tailor immediately went off work on a short-term disability basis and was scheduled to return to work on a graduated program in April. SaskPower employee terminated for not attending accommodation meetings AFTER a customer-care worker took time off due to asthma and allergies in the workplace, she was fired when she refused to meet with the employer in the office due to potential allergens affecting her health. Lisa Marcotte worked as a customer service representative in the Fletcher Road office of SaskPower in Saskatoon, beginning in Novem- ber 2015. Shortly after she moved to the location, Marcotte discovered some workers wore scents which exacerbated her condition. She told manager Cheryl Sanders that cowork- ers' scents were bothering her. Sanders held an all- staff meeting and reiterated SaskPower's policy that said: "Please abide by the corporate no-scent policy by not wearing strong perfumes/colognes or eating strong aromatic foods at your work sta- tion. Many people have adverse or allergic reac- tions to some smells." Marcotte continued to suffer and in April 2016, SENIOR CARE Lamont County Housing Lamont, Alta.
