GOVERNMENT Government of Newfoundland and Labrador Provincewide, Newfoundland and Labrador (1,100 maintenance, operational employees) and the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Public and Private Employees (NAPE) Renewal agreement: Effective March 31, 2018 to March 31, 2020. Wage adjustments: Effective April 1, 2018: 0% Effective April 1, 2019: 0% Shift premium: $2.30 per hour for each hour worked between 4 p.m. and 8 a.m. other than employees whose shifts times begin and end between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. $2.55 per hour for each hour worked by employee between 12:01 p.m. Saturday and midnight Sunday. Paid holidays: 13 days, plus 1 additional day in each year as civic holiday, which will be se- lected by majority of employees in area. Vacations with pay: 15 days to start, 20 days after 10 years, 25 days after 25 years. Time may be carried forward to fol- lowing year: 20 days if employee is eligible for 15 or 20 days per year; 25 days if employee is eli- gible for 25 days per year. Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked in excess of scheduled work week or work day. Medical benefits: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employ- ee pays 50% of premiums. Sick leave: Amount obtained by multiplying employee's to- tal months of service by 2 and subtracting number of work- ing days of sick leave previ- ously awarded, provided that maximum number that may be awarded to employee during any period of 240 months of service will not exceed 480 days in aggregate. For employees hired after May 4, 2004, amount obtained by multiplying em- ployee's total months of service by 1 and subtracting number of working days of sick leave pre- viously awarded, provided that maximum number that may be awarded to employee during any period of 240 months of service will not exceed 240 days in aggregate. Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of mother, father, legal guardian, brother, sister, child, spouse (including common- law, same-sex), grandmother, grandfather, grandchild, moth- er-in-law, father-in-law, near relative living in same house- hold (4 days if death occurs out- side province). 1 day for death of son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in- law, sister-in-law. 2 additional days where extraor- dinary circumstances prevail. Seniority – recall rights: 2 years for employee who ac- cepts alternate employment with employer, as result of posi- tion being abolished; 24 months for employees who have been out of service of employer or who has been appointed to management position. Call-in pay: Minimum of 3 hours' at applicable overtime rate. Employee will be paid cost of transportation to and from place of work at appropriate kilometre rate, maximum 20 ki- lometres each way, for each call-in. Probationary period: 6 months. Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years. Severance: Pay equal to amount obtained by multiply- ing number of completed years of employment by weekly sal- ary, maximum 20 weeks' pay. Safety shoes: $100 every 12 months for employees who are required to wear safety boots. Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide all protective clothing, safety hats, other safety equipment, such as goggles, aprons, gloves.
