Shift premium: $0.50 per hour for first aid level 1; $1 per hour for first aid level 2. $1.50 per hour for laid off junior regular employees when work available will not support full-time crew on regular shifts in city pickup and delivery or dock work. $1.50 per hour for all shift hours worked in B.C. $0.50 per hour for lead-person (chargehand). Paid holidays: 11 days. Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 3 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 9 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 15 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 21 years. Overtime: Paid at time and one-half and double time. May be banked as vacation overtime, maximum 5 days. Time must be used by March 31, with no pay out in cash allowed. Meal allowance: $7 for single- person drivers domiciled in B.C. on turn-around runs in excess of 10 hours. Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for Teamsters' National Benefit Plan. Coverage begins after 90 calendar days. Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Sick leave: 1 half-day per month, maximum 6 days. LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums. AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Pension: Teamsters' National Pension Plan. Bereavement leave: 4 days for death of spouse, child. 3 days for death in immediate family (mother, father, sister, brother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, stepsons, stepdaughters). Seniority – recall rights: 12 months to start; 18 months after 5 years of seniority. Probationary period: 120 hours worked during 30 cal- endar days after date of hire. Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months. Safety shoes: Employer will supply good quality safety-toed boots to maintenance shop employees once per year, if required. Uniforms/clothing: When safety equipment is required, such as earplugs, respirators, hardhats, vests, employer will ensure that all terminals are properly equipped. If employee is required to wear uniform as condition of employment, employer will provide 3 shirts, 2 pairs of trousers per year. Em- ployee must furnish, at own ex- pense, suitable clothing, shoes, gloves, winter weather and pro- tective clothing in order to per- form job effectively and safely. Employee physically handling substantial volumes of fish, meat, frozen butter, hides, creo- soted commodities, spun glass, lamp black, barbed wire, acids, dirty-oil drums, ore concen- trates in bulk, will be provided with gloves, rubber or leather aprons and either coveralls or smocks. Maintenance shop em- ployees, employer-established hostlers will be provided with rain gear, clean coveralls when required. Mileage: For U.S. operations: $1.45 rising 6 steps to $1.57. For Alberta: (to/from B.C. to Alberta, 5 axle): $1.45 rising 6 steps to $1.57; (to/from B.C. to Alberta, 6 axle or above): $1.50 rising 6 steps to $1.62. (to/from B.C. to Alberta): $0.05 per extra axle; $0.05 for all miles (Kootenays). Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 10.4% increase): Casual/part-time employees: $19 rising 6 steps to $20.98 Full-rated employees: $25.29 rising 6 steps to $28.36 City pick-up and delivery driv- ers and dock-persons (Van Kam employees hired before Jan. 1, 2019) Dock-persons: $25.19 rising 6 steps to $28.26 City pick-up and delivery driv- ers, straight truck: $25.19 rising 6 steps to $28.26 City pick-up and delivery driv- ers, semi-trailer: $25.29 rising 6 steps to $28.36 (Employees hired after Jan. 1, 2019) Dock-persons: $22 rising 5 steps to $24.29 City pick-up and delivery driv- ers, straight truck: $23.69 rising 5 steps to $26.36 City pick-up and delivery driv- ers, semi-trailer: $25.69 rising 5 steps to $28.36 Sample rates of per-trip pay (current, after 15.5% in- crease): U.S. trip rates Everett: $400 rising 6 steps to $465.46 Kent/Seattle: $510 rising 6 steps to $589.34 Auburn/Sumner: $535 rising 6 steps to $617.50 Line drivers (work time/wait time/layover time) Editor's notes: Medical examinations: Employer will reimburse employee for cost of physical examination for drivers who have completed 1 or more years of employment and who are required to take government physical or medical examinations for vehicle operator's licence. Wait time: 8 hours' pay for waiting time in each 20-hour period for all time waiting to load or unload, waiting for equipment to be repaired, waiting for roads to be cleared, waiting at turn-around points on single-person operation, where there are public facilities and conditions available (restaurants, coffee shops, motels) to make it safe and possible that driver does not have to remain in equipment. Layovers: After 24 hours of layover, employer will pay $5 per hour for each hour until employee is loaded for return trip (California) to owner-operator.
