(24 labourers, operators, mechanics) and Unifor, Local 530A Renewal agreement: Effect- ive April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2022. Ratified on April 4, 2019. Signed on April 1, 2019. Wage adjustments: Effective April 1, 2019: 3% Effective April 1, 2020: 3% Effective April 1, 2021: 3% Shift premium: When em- ployee (including maintenance employee), is assigned to work on different crew, employee will be paid twice regular rate for first shift. Skill premium pay (for operators who pos- sess valid fourth-class steam engineer's certificate or for completion and passing grade of fourth-class power engineer program at NAIT only): $1.52 per hour rising 2 steps to $1.61 per hour (previously $1.48 per hour). Crew leader (employee assigned to be crew leader for specific assignment and time period): $1.83 per hour rising 2 steps to $1.94 per hour (pre- viously $1.78 per hour). Days: $0.89 per hour rising 2 steps to $0.95 per hour. Afternoons: $1.91 per hour rising 2 steps to $2.03 per hour. Nights: $3.34 per hour rising 2 steps to $3.54 per hour. Blended rate: $2.04 per hour rising 2 steps to $2.17 per hour. Day/afternoon rate blended: $1.41 per hour rising 2 steps to $1.49 per hour. Paid holidays: 12 days. Vacations with pay: 15 days after 1 year, 20 days after 7 years, 25 days after 16 years, 30 days after 23 years. Overtime: Double time for all work after normal daily hours or on days of rest. Hours may be banked, maximum 5 shifts per employee (rolling). If banked time is unused, it will be paid out every 12 months on March 31. Meal allowance: Employer will provide meal for employee who works more than 2 hours be- yond normal shift. Additional meal will be provided for each subsequent 4-hour period of continuous work. Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums. LTD: Coverage of 70% of employee's basic hourly wage, maximum $10,000 per month. AD&D: Coverage of 2 times annual salary, maximum $500,000. Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 2 times annual salary, max- imum $500,000. Pension: After 30 days of ser- vice, employee becomes eligible to participate in company pen- sion plan. Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (parents, brothers, sisters, em- ployee's spouse or common-law spouse, children, mother-in- law, father-in-law, grandchil- dren, grandparents). Seniority – recall rights: 12 months. Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours' pay at double time or applic- able overtime pay for all hours worked, whichever is greater (except if call-in is between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. when 3 hours' will be paid at double time rate instead of 2; or where employee has been called plant within 3 hours from start of regular shift, and continues into regu- lar shift, in which case normal overtime provisions will apply). Employer will pay to employee called in, if residing outside 16-kilometre radius of plant, current CRA rate per kilometre if driving car or provide trans- portation for employee. Probationary period: 120 con- secutive calendar days. Severance: 3 weeks' pay (112.5 hours) at employee's regular rate of pay, plus 3 weeks' pay (112.5 hours) at employee's regular rate of pay, for each year of service, maximum 72 weeks. Safety shoes: Employer will reimburse employees 100% of cost for CSA-approved safety footwear, maximum 2 pairs per year. Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply and launder 3 pairs of coveralls for each regular employee. Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 6% increase): Operational classification Casual labourer: $34.11 rising 2 steps to $36.19 Aqua loadout (4): $38.80 rising 2 steps to $41.17 Operator trainee (6): $42.06 rising 2 steps to $44.62 Jr. floor operator (9): $47.03 rising 2 steps to $49.89 Sr. floor operator (10): $48.38 rising 2 steps to $51.33 Control room operator (12): $52.29 rising 2 steps to $55.48 Maintenance Labourer: $34.11 rising 2 steps to $36.19 Helper 1: $40.40 rising 2 steps to $42.86 Mechanic 1: $53.11 rising 2 steps to $56.34 Mechanic specialist: $54.74 rising 2 steps to $58.07 Apprentices During first year of apprentice- ship and until successful com- pletion of examinations: $37.17 rising 2 steps to $39.44 After first year of appren- ticeship and until successful completion of first-year exams: $39.83 rising 2 steps to $42.26 After second year of appren- ticeship and until successful completion of second-year exams: $42.49 rising 2 steps to $50.71 After third year of apprentice- ship and until successful com- pletion of third-year exams: $47.80 rising 2 steps to $50.71 Editor's notes: Family active living: Employer will reimburse employees, maximum $750 per year, (April to March) for cost of activities/equipment that promote active living. Certification: Employer will give 4 hours' pay, after suc- cessful completion of each separate section of Alberta power-engineering certification examinations and for mainte- nance employees who successfully complete Alberta journeyman examinations. Educational assistance: Maximum $1,500 per year to offset cost of tuition and books for employees who wish to pursue employer-related training after hours. Paid education leave: Employer will pay $60 per year per employee for Unifor-paid education leave program. Retirement notice bonus: Employer will pay employee 5% bonus (calculated on base rate multiplied by 2,080 hours or 1,950 hours depending on employee's current schedule) at time of retirement, if retiring employee gives employer 1 year prior notice of retirement in writing. Severance: 3 weeks' pay, plus 3 weeks' pay for each year of service, maximum 72 weeks.
