WASTE MANAGEMENT Waste Management Canada Provincewide, Alberta/Saskatchewan (325 waste management employees) and Unifor, Local 4050 Renewal agreement: Effec- tive Nov. 1, 2018 to Oct. 31, 2021. Ratified on June 1, 2019. Signed on June 2, 2019. Wage adjustments: Effective Nov. 1, 2018: 1% Effective Nov. 1, 2019: 1.5% Effective Nov. 1, 2020: 1.5% Shift premium: $32 above regular pay for day when em- ployee trains another employ- ee or new hire. $1.50 per hour for non-shop employee ap- pointed by employer as lead- hand; $2.50 per hour for em- ployee appointed by employer as lead-hand in shop ($2 per hour in Saskatchewan). $2 per hour for employees working in shop on Saturday, Sunday. $0.75 per hour for all hours worked on afternoon shift plus additional $1 per hour worked on graveyard shift for MRF employees. Paid holidays: 10 days. Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year for Alberta employees (3 weeks or 6% for Saskatchewan employees), 3 weeks or 6% after 4 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 9 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 17 years. Senior employees will be allowed up to 2 weeks, con- secutive or otherwise, during summer months ( June 1 to Aug. 31) pending availability. Employee entitled to 3 and or more weeks of vacation, may take 3 weeks consecutively, other than in June, July or August. Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 8, 10 hours per day or 40 hours per week. Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums of Alberta and Saskatchewan health care insurance, and en- sure coverage includes ambu- lance and semi-private room coverage. Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums. 80% reimburse- ment for preventive care for such expenses as X-rays, regular 6-month checkups, cleaning and scaling of teeth, fluoride treatments, maxi- mum $1,300 per person per plan year. 80% reimbursement for minor restorative care for such expenses as fillings, extractions, maintainers, maximum $1,300 per person per plan year. 50% reimburse- ment for major restorative for such expenses as crowns, bridges, dentures, gold inlays, onlays, maximum $1,300 per person per plan year. 50% reimbursement for orthodon- tics, lifetime maximum $1,300 per person per plan year for dependent children. Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $275 for eyeglasses or con- tact lenses in each 24-month period. Eye examinations are included in $275 reimburse- ment. Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 2/3 employee's weekly rate, payable from first day of accident or illness if hospitalization is involved and third day of sickness (pay- ment is retroactive to second day of sickness with doctor's certificate), payable for 15 weeks. LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 60% of wages, maximum $1,000 per month. AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $35,000. Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $35,000. Pension: Each employee, after completion of 6 months' service, will belong to em- ployer's pension plan. Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse (including common- law, same-sex), child, step- child, mother, father, step- parents, parents of spouse (including stepparents) sister, brother, sister-in-law, broth- er-in-law, grandparents of employee and spouse, grand- children, legal guardians of employee). Additional leave without pay may be granted on request of employee. 2 additional days for employee who travels more than 485 ki- lometres to attend funeral. Seniority – recall rights: 6 months for continuous lay- offs. Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours' pay. Probationary period: 480 hours. For drivers only, proba- tionary period will not begin until they have completed 20 working days of training. Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years for any reprimand no- tices or disciplinary measures. Safety shoes: $225 by March 1 of each year for CSA- approved, green tag, above- ankle safety boots. Employees must use approved company supplier for each site or satel- lite. Uniforms/clothing: Employ- er will provide all personal protection equipment (PPE). Employee will be provided with 3 pairs of pants, 5 shirts, 1 jacket or 2 pairs of coveralls and 5 shirts or T-shirts. Each employee will be supplied with gloves. Employer will supply rain gear to all employ- ees required to wear rain gear as condition of employment. Tool allowance: Employer will provide insurance cover- age on mechanics, welders, apprentice's tools, maximum $30,000 per occurrence. $500 (paid on Jan. 1 of each year) for mechanics, mechanic ap- prentices, millwrights, mill- wright apprentices; $350 for welders, welder apprentices, apprentices, with 1-year of seniority.
