per hour as first-aid premium (1 appointed first-aid employee per shift). Paid holidays: 12 days. Vacations with pay: 1 day for each day worked, maximum 10 days, or 4% to start, 2 weeks (80 hours) or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks (120 hours) or 6% after 4 years, 4 weeks (160 hours) or 8% after 10 years, 5 weeks (200 hours) or 10% after 20 years. Overtime: Time and one-half for first 2 hours after employee's scheduled shift, double time thereafter. Double time for all work after 48 hours per week. Time and one-half for all work on Sundays, holidays (will be consid- ered overtime). Meal allowance: Employees will be entitled to opportunity to eat meal (provided that break is taken so that production machinery will run continuously) for employees who work beyond 12 hours per day (previously $10 cash payment of maximum $15 reimbursement for meal). Sick leave: 5 8-hour days. Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse, mother, father, brother, sister, children, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren). Seniority – recall rights: 12 months after layoff. Call-in pay: Time and one-half hourly rate up and until regular start time. Minimum 4 hours' pay at prevailing overtime rate for employees called in after regular shift. Probationary period: 90 calen- dar days; 3-month probationary training for employee re-entering employment after right to recall expired. Severance: 2 weeks' pay for each year of service, based on employee's regular rate of pay at severance. Safety shoes: $400 every 2 years. Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide rubber boots, weld- ers' gloves, welders' aprons, gog- gles, hard hats for job use where required. Employer will provide helmets of reasonable fit, reason- able quantity as tool-crib item for shop, yard, field use. Employer will supply protective clothing when employees are engaged in cleaning equipment. $300 every 2 years for raingear. Tool allowance: Employer will supply all tools. Sample rates of hourly pay (cur- rent, after 4.56% increase): Five-year heavy equipment /plant operator: $26.77 rising 2 steps to $27.99 Heavy equipment/plant operator: $25.39 rising 2 steps to $26.54 First-year heavy equipment/plant operator: $23.08 rising 2 steps to $24.13 Labourer/forklift operator: $22.10 rising 2 steps to $23.11 First-year labourer/forklift opera- tor: $20.71 rising 2 steps to $21.66 Probationary labourer/forklift operator: $18.47 rising 2 steps to $19.31 Editor's notes: Vacation pay on termination: In employee is terminated after employee had vacation earned for previous year, employee will receive as vacation pay 4%, 6%, 8% or 10% of gross earnings earned in year for which no vacation has been paid. Safety glasses: $150 once per year for each employee required to wear prescription glasses. Layoff pay: After 2 years of service, 2 weeks' pay, based on 80 hours at applicable rate of pay, for employees laid off for period that exceeds right to recall. Temporary employees: Employer will pay $40 permit fee each month for each temporary employee. EDUCATION Nipissing University North Bay, Ont.
