COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS in recognition of additional responsibilities as lead-hand to direct (including training, related administration) and oversee activities of specific work group or department. 1 hour of pay when employee troubleshoots or problem solves issue over telephone, text, email. Paid holidays: 11 days. Vacations with pay: 1 day for each 208 hours worked (maximum 80 hours) to start, 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 4 years, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 18 years. If employee resigns before March 1, employee's vacation pay will be calculated at 2% of regular earnings for each week of entitlement from previous March 1 to date of termination less any vacation actually taken; if resignation occurs after March 1, 2% of regular earnings for each week of entitlement from March 1 to date of termina- tion plus any vacation entitle- ment not taken. Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked in excess of regular scheduled hours per day or per pay period. Em- ployee will be paid at overtime rates for hours worked prior to scheduled start time and will be permitted to complete regularly scheduled shift if em- ployee is called in to start shift early. Time may be banked, maximum 80 hours and will be paid out by April 30 of each year. Meal allowance: $7.50, plus paid 15-minute break, for em- ployees who work more than 2 hours of overtime in 1 day. Medical benefits: Employer will pay full cost of Alberta Health Care premiums. Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for 100% basic coverage; 60% major restor- ative, maximum $2,000 per year per person. Vision: $200 every 2 years. $35 for eye exam every 24 months. Weekly indemnity: Employer pays 100% of premiums. 60% of gross weekly base rate maxi- mum 26 weeks. Sick leave: 56 hours per year. Employee who works com- plete calendar year will receive pay-out of 100% of accrued sick leave, provided employee has not received written warn- ing regarding attendance in that year. LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums. 60% of gross week- ly base rate, maximum $2,300 per month. Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for cover- age of 1 times annual salary. Pension: Teamsters pension plan. Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (spouse, common-law spouse, parents, child, brother, sister, grandparents, grandchildren, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandparents-in-law, step- mother, stepfather, stepbroth- er, stepsister). Seniority – recall rights: 9 consecutive months for lay- offs. Call-in pay: Minimum of 4 hours of pay at overtime rate when employee is called to work on one of scheduled days off. For emergency work outside of scheduled hours 4 hours at job rate or for hours actually worked at overtime rate, whichever is greater. Probationary period: 180 days. Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years of actual work service for disciplinary notices. Severance: 1 week's pay for each year of service for em- ployee who is permanently laid off due to discontinuance of operation or lack of work; 1 week's pay for each year of service, maximum 10 years, for employee who is in depart- ment affected by permanent layoffs who would not oth- erwise lose employment and who applies to voluntarily terminate. Safety shoes: As condition of employment, all employees will be required to wear em- ployer-approved safety foot- wear and will be reimbursed $135 per year (or $270 for 2 years). Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide and launder, without charge, designated outer work clothing required by plant, laboratory and maintenance employees. Employees who work in bulk or finished goods warehouse will be provided with proper freezer clothes and replaced as required, within 2 weeks of request. Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 8.5% in- crease): Group 1 Maintenance and engineering: $37.65 rising 5 steps to $41.13 Group 2 Machine operators/laboratory technicians: $27.20 rising 5 steps to $29.52 Group 3 CIP: $26.62 rising 5 steps to $28.89 Group 4 Shunt driver: $25.90 rising 5 steps to $28.11 Group 5 Warehouse: $25.84 rising 5 steps to $28.04 Group 6 Other experienced (produc- tion): $24.63 rising 5 steps to $26.73 CONSTRUCTION British Columbia Sheet Metal Association Provincewide, British Columbia (1,240 material men, welders, foremen) and the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail Transportation Workers (SMART), Local 280 Renewal agreement: Effective July 29, 2019 to April 30, 2022. Signed on Sept. 27, 2019. Shift premium: $6.21 per hour (previously $6.09 per hour) for A foremen. Effective May 1, 2021: $6.32 per hour. One-half hour of pay for shifts other than regular shift (day shift) up to midnight (night shift). 1 hour of pay for graveyard shift crosses after midnight up to 7 a.m. 10% employees required to work underground on industrial projects. Paid holidays: 12 days, plus 2 additional holidays. Vacations with pay: 3 weeks to start. Overtime: Paid at 150% for first 2 hours worked outside regular workday; 200% for any additional hours during that day. 150% will apply for first 8 hours of Saturday; 200% for all hours worked on Sundays, statutory holidays. Meal allowance: Employer will supply meal at end of 2 hours of overtime, plus one-half hour pay at straight time to consume it. Additional rest break each 2 hours and meal break each 4 hours thereafter will be given. Medical benefits: Employer will contribute $2.83 per hour to sheet metal workers health benefit fund. Pension: Employer will con- tribute $2.83 per hour to sheet metal workers pension fund. Bereavement leave: 3 unpaid days on death of member of employee's immediate fam- ily (spouse, child, parent, guardian, sibling, grandchild, grandparent, any others as stated in Employment Stan- dards Act). Severance: 1 hour's notice of layoff or 1 hour of straight-time pay in lieu thereof (at employ- er's option). Uniforms/clothing: $0.12 per hour (previously $0.10 per hour) tool and clothing allow- ance for journeyman sheet metal, foreman. Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 4% increase): Dental: 100% basic coverage; 60% major restorative, maximum $2,000 per year per person.
