COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS hours on second shift (3 p.m. to 11 p.m.). 1/5 shift differen- tial rate (previously 1/7) for normal scheduled hours on third shift (11 p.m. to 7 a.m.). $18 per day (previously $17) for employees working in radi- ation area, in plastic suits or replacement material of fully enveloping type with indepen- dent air supply. $0.45 per hour when working from bosun chair or swing stage. Paid holidays: 11 days. Vacations with pay: 3 weeks after 1 year. Overtime: Watchmen: Time and one-half for all hours worked outside normal workday or workweek. Double time for all hours worked on Saturdays, Sundays, statutory holidays. Meal allowance: When employee has not been notified previous day that employee will be required to work more than 2 hours beyond normal quitting time of first or second shifts or for more than 3 hours beyond normal quitting time of third shift, employer will provide meal and be allowed 30 paid minutes to consume it, following first 2 hours of over- time worked. Another meal and break is provided after each additional 4 hours worked. Medical benefits: Employer pays into operative welfare plan supplied by union. Pension: Employer pays into pension plan supplied by union. Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours' pay at appropriate premium rate plus travel allowance where applicable when called into work outside of normal hours of work. If employee's normal hours of work commence within this 4-hour period, employee will be paid premium time from when he commences work until start of employee's normal hours. Uniforms/clothing: Employees must provide, at own expense, suitable clothing for performance of regular duties. Employer will provide suitable rainwear when required and reflective winter wear for employees performing snow removal as part of regular scheduled duties. Tool allowance: For loss by fire at employer's camp or on work site in employer-designated storage area, company will replace or pay full estimated value of personal tools, mini- mum $15 and maximum $500. Mileage: Daily travel allow- ance to employees who are not receiving room and board when project is outside of radius of 40 kilometres from employee's residence. Rates vary for 40 to 56 kilometres, 56 to 80 kilometres, 80 to 97 kilometres, and more than 97 kilometres. Employees using company vehicles are not entitled to daily travel. Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after increase): Local 183 Toronto Senior foreman: $38.19 rising 5 steps to $44.40 Composite crew foreman: $37.54 rising 5 steps to $43.64 Foreman group 2: $36.56 rising 5 steps to $40.62 Foreman-in-training: $35.25 rising 5 steps to $39.17 Subforeman group 2: $34.92 rising 5 steps to $38.81 Labourer group 2: $32.64 rising 5 steps to $36.27 Group 6: $33.08 rising 5 steps to $36.72 Group 9: $34.31 rising 5 steps to $37.95 Editor's notes: Room and board: For projects more than 97 radius kilometres from employee's home, employer may supply room and board within reasonable distance of project or subsistence allowance. On recruitment of tradesmen who live between 80 and 161 radius kilometres from project, employer pays $32 (previously $30) for initial trip to project. For tradesmen who live beyond 161 radius kilometres from project, $0.42 per radius kilometres (previously $0.35 per radius kilo- metres) plus travel time based on 1 hour's pay for each 80 radius kilometres up to 8 hours maximum, for initial trip to project. Wage adjustments: Effective May 1, 2019: increase by CPI national average for previous calendar year, maximum 2% Effective May 1, 2020: increase by CPI national average for previous calendar year, maximum 2% Effective May 1, 2021: increase by CPI national average for previous calendar year, maximum 2% Paid holidays: 11 days. Vacations with pay: 3 weeks or 120 hours after 1 year, 4 weeks or 160 hours after 16 years, 5 weeks or 200 hours after 26 years. Unused vacation is noncumulative and will not be carried over to subsequent year except that maximum 40 hours' unused vacation may be carried over to subsequent year provided that hours must be used within first 2 months of subsequent year, are first paid vacation hours used by employee in that subsequent year and if not used are not thereafter carried over. Overtime: Time and one-half for all overtime hours worked. Time may be banked, maximum 80 hours at any 1 time. Sick leave: 4 days per year. Employer will pay out unused sick time to employee who voluntarily retires. Unused days may be accumulated and carried forward to next year, provided that employee will have maximum 16 days in sick bank at any time. Any unused days that would result in employee having more than 16 days in sick bank at any time will be immediately forfeited. Pension: All maintenance employees will automatically be enrolled in company's pension plan after 1 year of service. Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (spouse, common-law partner, employee's child (including miscarriage or still birth), parents of employee or employ- ee's spouse, sister, brother, grandparents, brother-in-aw, sister-in-law, any relatives residing in employee's home). Seniority – recall rights: 9 months after layoffs. Call-in pay: Greater of actual time worked or 3 hours of pay at regular rate. If employee has already worked regularly scheduled shift, overtime may be applicable after 2 hours. Probationary period: 6 months of active employment. Safety shoes: $400 per year for employees in classification of engineer or apprentice for CSA safety shoes, winter boots, tooling and personal protec- tive equipment (PPE). $200 per year for employee in stores department and classification of groomer for CSA safety footwear Uniforms/clothing: Company uniform for employees in engineer, Tool allowance: For loss of tools, company will replace or pay full estimated value, minimum $15 and maximum $500.
