n a recent engagement survey, Economical
Insurance achieved an engagement score of
80 per cent. That number is up from 54 per
cent in 2019. "Our engagement level has increased
beyond anything I've seen in my career," said Brigid
Pelino, Senior Vice-President and CHRO. "Our
employees and our leaders have really bought into
the direction of our organization."

initiatives and programs, Economical also has an
Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility
Advisory Committee (IDEAAC) made up of executive
sponsors who are also mentors to their employee
group chairs, which include an Anti-Racism Group,
LGBTQ+ Group, Multiculture Group, and Women's
Leadership Impact Group.
With Economical turning 150 this year, Pelino said
it's important to draw good ideas from the past while
evolving for the future. "You don't get to be 150 years
old unless you did a lot right. Let's learn from and
hold onto those things that we have always been
great at, and then let's ask ourselves a question:
'How does our company need to evolve to have
another 150 years?'"
