COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS after 15 years. Employer will pay all accumulated vacation pay to employee at end of each pay period. Overtime: Time and one-half for work after 8 hours per day on Monday through Friday; all work on Saturday and Sunday. Double time after 8 hours of work on Saturday and Sunday. Medical benefits: Employer will contribute $11 per job per payroll day to Seafarers' Medical Plan. Effective June 1, 2022: $12 per job per payroll day. Effective June 1, 2023: $14 per day. Pension: Employer will con- tribute 11% to Seafarers' In- ternational Union of Canada Pension Fund. Bereavement leave: Maxi- mum 10 days for death in im- mediate family (father, mother, brother, sister, parents-in-law, grandparents) after 90 days of employment. Seniority – recall rights: 24 months after layoff or being injured or sick. Probationary period: 90 days working on vessel; 120 days for promotions. Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years for notice of disciplinary sanctions. Severance: 5 day's basic pay per year of service. Safety shoes: All permanent employees will be reimbursed $175 (previously $155 per year) in first and second year of agreement and $200 in re- maining years for mandatory safety boots. Uniforms/clothing: Em- ployer will supply 3 pairs of coveralls (1 of which may be insulated) to employees of engine room or deck de- partments who have been employed for minimum of 90 days (items will be replaced once per year). All vessels will carry on board leather gloves with leather reinforced palms in variety of sizes. 1 pair will be issued to deck department and second pair will be issued upon first pair being turned in showing wear and tear. Galley staff will be reimbursed up to $125 per year for uniforms ($200 for each subsequent year). Sample rates of hourly pay (current): Leading seaman: $33.11 Able seaman: $318 Ordinary seaman: $26.97 Mechanical assistant: $318 Electrician: $36.99 Head tunnel man: $30.48 Tunnel man: $29.30 Chief cook: $35.80 Second cook: $27.20 Mobile utility employee: $31.84 Mobile electrotechnician em- ployee: $36.99 Editor's notes: Conveniences: Employer will supply: clean blankets; sheets, pillowcases, hand and bath towels, standard brand or generic face soap and laundry; soap or detergent, to be supplied at least once per week; crockery; washing machine, iron, ironing board; equipment for making coffee; onboard exercise equipment where space permits. Transportation costs: Employer will pay maximum $150 per season (previously $100 per season) for excess baggage costs when vessel is laid-up and employee is sent home. $0.46 per kilometre 1-way car allowance where no public transportation is available and em- ployee must use own vehicle. Employees (hired after June 1, 2011) will be reimbursed maximum $350 for transportation between employee's home and airport closest to employee's home (Vancouver, Regina, Winnipeg, Calgary, Thunder Bay, Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, Moncton, Saint John, Fredericton, Charlottetown, Halifax, Sydney, St John's, Gander and Deer Lake) when joining or leaving vessel. Room and meal allowance: When employer does not provide room and board, employees will receive maximum $20 per meal, maximum $150 for room per night exclusive of taxes. Marine disaster: Em- ployee who suffers loss of clothing or other personal effects because of marine disaster or shipwreck will be compensated, maximum $4,000. Wage adjustments: Effective July 1, 2019: 2% Effective July 1, 2020: 2% Effective July 1, 2021: 2% Shift premium: 1 additional hour of pay per shift will ap- ply to all regularly scheduled work on Saturday and Sunday. $0.50 per hour for second shift (all hours worked on any shift between 6 p.m. and 11:59 p.m.). $0.75 per hour for third shift (all hours worked on any shift between midnight and 5:59 a.m.). $23 biweekly oc- cupational first aid level 1; $30 biweekly for occupational first aid level 2; $37 biweekly for oc- cupational first aid for level 3. Paid holidays: 12 days. Vacations with pay: 1.25 days per month to start, 3 weeks or 15 days after 1 years, 4 weeks or 20 days after 3 years, 5 weeks or 25 days after 12 years. Em- ployees may request to carry over maximum 5 days' vaca- tion to following vacation year and must be taken within 24 months. Overtime: Time and one- half for first 4 overtime hours worked after normal full-time work day; double time for all hours worked after 4 overtime hours worked after normal full- time work day. Double time for all hours worked on day of rest. Employee may bank overtime, maximum 35 hours at any 1 time. Meal allowance: Meal or reimbursement in amount established by employer for meal expenses for employee who works more than 3 hours of overtime on scheduled work day. Meal break of 1 half-hour, with pay, will be given at over- time rate. Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Temporary employees with assignments of 4 months or more or accumulation of tem- porary service of 4 months in 12-month period, that are at least average of 17.5 hours per week, will be paid additional 7% (previously 5%) in lieu of health and welfare benefits. Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums. $650 every 2 years (previously $500 every 2 years), including eye glasses, laser eye surgery. Employees will be reimbursed $100 every 2 years (previously $75 every 2 years) for vision exams. Paramedical: Employer pays 100% of premiums. $500 per year for chiropractor, podia- trist, massage, therapist, speech therapist, naturopath, clinical, psychologist, acupuncturist, physiotherapist. Physiothera- pist: unlimited. Sick leave: 1.5 days for each month of service, maximum accumulation of 120 days. STD: Employee pays 100% of premiums. LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums. Pension: All employees must contribute to Municipal Pen- sion Plan. Bereavement leave: 5 days for death in immediate family (parents, spouse, common- law spouse, same-sex partner, child, brother, sister, father-in- law, mother-in-law, grandpar- ents, grandchild, any relative who has been residing in same household). Seniority – recall rights: 18 months. Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours' at applicable overtime rate. Probationary period: 6 months from date of hiring.
