Renewal agreement: Effective April 1, 2012, to March 31, 2015. Signed on Sept. 3, 2013. Wage adjustments: Effective April 1, 2012: 2% Effective April 1, 2013: 2.5% Effective April 1, 2014: 3% Shift premium: $1.75 per hour for time worked between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. and for time worked on Saturday and Sunday. Paid holidays: 12.5 days. Vacations with pay: 3 weeks to start, 4 weeks after 5 years, 5 weeks after 15 years and 6 weeks after 24 years. Overtime: Time and one-half. An employee must work at least 20 minutes beyond a normal shift to be eligible for overtime compensation. Meal allowance: $10 after 3 hours overtime. Sick leave: 18 days. STD: 100% of salary for the first 20 days and 75% of salary for the next 80 days for employees with less than 1 year of service. 100% of salary for the first 40 days and 75% of normal salary for the next 60 days for employees with more than 1 year of service. Bereavement leave: 5 days for employee's father, mother, step- parents, brother, half-brother, step-brother, sister, half-sister, step-sister, spouse, child, step-child, father-in-law, mother-in- law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, ward of the employee, grand- parent, grandchild or a relative permanently living with the em- ployee. 1 day for employee's brother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, foster parent or the grandparent of the em- ployee's spouse. An additional 2 days may be granted for travel. Seniority – recall rights: 2 years. Call-in pay: 4 hours straight time or the applicable overtime rate, whichever is greater. Probationary period: 1 year with a possible 6-month extension. Discipline: Sunset clause is 4 years. Mileage: 43.66¢/km for distances less than 16,000 km and 38.53¢/km for distances more than 16,000 km. Retroactive pay: Employees who left their employment between April 1, 2012, and Sept. 3, 2013, are entitled to full retroactivity of any applicable wage increases. Would-be engineer fired for fraudulent wage claims TIME TO PUNCH out. Mark Hammett — a locomotive engineer trainee with the Canadian Pacific Railway Company — was right- ly terminated for submitting fraudulent wage claims, an arbitra- tor ruled. Hammett was hired in 2007 and worked as a conductor in Fort Steele, B.C., prior to being accepted into the locomotive engineer- ing training program. He was fired on July 30, 2012, for submit- ting fraudulent wage claims during the period between March 3, 2012, and April 15, 2012.
