(220 teaching assistants) and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 1357 renewal agreement: Effective Sept. 1, 2011, to Aug. 31, 2015. Wage adjustments: Effective Sept. 1, 2011: 3% Effective Sept. 1, 2012: 1% Effective Sept. 1, 2013: 1% Paid holidays: 12 days. Double time-and-a-half for all hours worked on a named holiday. Vacations with pay: 3 weeks after 1 year, 4 weeks after 7 years, 5 weeks after 12 years. Up to 5 days may be carried over into the next year, to be used by Aug. 31, or paid out. Overtime: Time and one-half for first 3 hours worked in excess of 8 per day for mainte- nance staff, or 7.5 for teaching staff. Double time for all hours worked in excess of that. Over- time may be banked for time off in lieu, used on an hour-for- hour basis. Medical benefits: Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan. Sick leave: 2 days earned per month, to accumulate year-to- year, up to 90 days. Bereavement leave: 4 days granted in the death or criti- cal illness of an employee's parent, spouse, common- law spouse, sibling, child, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandchild, former guardian, fiancé, son-in-law, daughter- in-law, any relative residing in the same household or whom the employee is required to administer bereavement re- sponsibilities. Up to 3 days for sister-in-law, brother-in-law, grandparent, aunt, uncle, niece or nephew. 2 additional days for the purpose of travel. Up to 5 additional days may be grant- ed, with partial loss of pay. Seniority – recall rights: 1 year. Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours paid at overtime rate. Reduced by 50% at age 65. Life insurance: $85,000. Re- duced by 50% at age 65. Pension: Employer contrib- utes $210 per member per month. Employees will con- tribute $105 each. Employees join the plan after completing 200 days of work.
