Wage adjustments: Effective 2015: 2.5% Effective 2016: 2.5% Shift premium: $1.50 per hour for all hours worked during the night shift. $2 per hour effective January 2016. Vacations with pay: 8 hours per month worked to a maxi- mum of 96 hours to start, 120 hours after 1 year, 168 hours after 5 years and 216 hours after 10 years. Overtime: Time and one-half. Sick leave: 132 hours per year for sick, personal or family leave. Bereavement leave: 5 days for employee's spouse, child, father, mother, brother, sister, grandparent or grandchild. 3 days for employee's father in law, mother-in-law, brother-in- law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, or daughter-in-law. 1 day for employee's uncle, aunt, nephew or niece. Sample rates of pay (current, after 2.5% increase): Officers: $18.98 rising in 6 steps to $31.84 per hour Investigators and supervisors: $20.88 rising in 6 steps to $35.02 Editor's notes: Marriage: 5 days for employee's marriage. 1 day for the marriage of employee's father, mother, son, daughter, brother or sister. Fire: 2 days when a fire occurs in employee's primary residence. Birth or adoption: 5 shifts. TRANSPORTATION Island Tug and Barge Vancouver (76 licensed personnel) and the Canadian Merchant Service Guild Renewal agreement: Effective Oct. 1, 2014, to Sept. 30, 2017. Signed on May 5, 2015. Wage adjustments: Effective Oct. 1, 2014: 1.5% Effective Oct. 1, 2015: 2% Effective Oct. 1, 2016: 2% Shift premium: $15.23 per day for deckhands working Island Tugger, Island Monarch or similar sized vessel. $8.70 per day for work on smaller vessels. Both rates to be in- creased commensurately with yearly wage adjustments. Time and one-half when employee is required to handle cargo other than for vessel's own use, dou- ble time for all hours worked off-watch. Paid holidays: 12 days. Time and one-half for hours worked on a named holiday. Vacations with pay: 14 days after 1 year, 21 days after 2 years, 28 days after 7 years, 35 days after 15 years, 42 days after 22 years. After 30 years of service, employee will re- ceive an additional 2% of gross wages in the 30th and each succeeding year of service. Overtime: Monthly allow- ances when vessel is at sea for continuous overtime, related to traffic conditions or weather hazards: $467.71 per month effective Oct. 1, 2014. $477.07 per month effective Oct. 1, 2015. $486.61 effective Oct. 1, 2016. Medical benefits: $920 per month in lieu of health plan. Pension: 9% contributed by employer, employee to con- tribute 8%. Additional 1% by employer to be contributed to the money purchase provision of pension on an unallocated basis, to be used for providing benefit to employees on long- term disability. Bereavement leave: 4 days for the death of an employee's spouse, common-law part- ner, father, mother, spouse or common-law partner of father or mother, employee's children and children of employee's spouse or common-law part- ner, employee's grandchildren, employee's brothers and sister, grandfather or grandmother, father and mother of spouse or common-law partner of employee and spouse or common-law partner of father or mother, or any employee permanently residing with the employee. Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours' pay at straight time, overtime for every half-hour increment that follows. Probationary period: 6 months. Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months. Severance: 1 week's pay for each year of service given employee has worked at least 1 year. Safety shoes: $250. Uniforms/clothing: Hearing protection provided. Clothing damaged as a result of han- dling dangerous cargo such as battery acid shall be reim- bursed for reasonable cost. $300 for floater coats, $150 for rain gear, $250 for prescription safety glasses, $125 for hearing protection. Mileage: 55¢ per km when employee is required to use personal vehicle for business. Sample rates of pay, current: Mates: $38.29 to start, rising in 9 steps to $44.10 Second engineers: $38.29, ris- ing in 9 steps to $44.10 Second mates: $38.20, rising in 9 steps to $44.01 Third engineers: $38.20, rising in 9 steps to $44.01 Non-certified mates: $37.25, rising in 9 steps to $43.06 Non-certified second engi- neers: $37.25, rising in 9 steps to $43.06 Masters: $42.82, rising in 9 steps to $53.45 Chief engineers: $41.37, rising in 9 steps to $51.91 Editor's notes: Marine disaster and mishap: Up to 1 month's basic pay for an employee who suffers loss of personal effects, clothing, navigational equipment and tools related to the operation of the vessel through wreck or marine disaster. Travel insurance: Insurance up to $200,000 provided by employer when employee is dispatched away from home dock. COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS Up to 1 month's basic pay for the loss of personal effects through wreck or marine disaster.
