Signed on June 19, 2015. Wage adjustments: Effective Jan. 1, 2015: 1% Effective Jan. 1, 2016: 2% or Consumer Price Index Effective Jan. 1, 2017: 2% or CPI Effective Jan. 1, 2018: 2% or CPI Effective Jan. 1, 2019: 2% or CPI Shift premium: On Dec. 24: $2.24 per hour for shifts before noon, $4.48 per hour for shifts after noon. On Dec. 25 and Dec. 26: $6.72 per hour. Paid holidays: 12 days. Time and one-half for all hours worked on a named holiday. Vacations with pay: 14 days after 1 year of service, 21 days after 2 years, 28 days after 7 years, 35 days after 15 years, 42 days after 22 years. Overtime: Time and one-half when an officer performs duties other than for use on their own vessel, double time if the officer's schedule was "off-duty." Same rates apply to engineers when performing duties such as cleaning smoke stacks, bilges, oil tanks, boilers, water tanks, oil spills, engine work or work in confined spaces or sewage systems. Time and one-half for all hours worked in excess of officer's regularly scheduled hours. Medical benefits: Employer to pay $826 per month per eligible officer to be used for the health benefit plan. BC Medical Services Plan. Pension: Canadian Merchant Service Guild Western Branch Pension Plan. Employer to contribute 9% of employee's salary. Bereavement leave: 4 days for the death of an immediate family member, including spouse, common-law spouse, father, mother, spouse or common-law spouse of mother or father, grandchildren, brother, sister, grandparents, father and mother of spouse or common-law partner, or any relative permanently residing in the employee's household. Seniority – recall rights: 6 months. Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours' pay at straight time rate. Safety shoes: $150 per year for safety boots. $175 effective Jan. 1, 2016, $180 effective Jan. 1, 2017, $185 effective Jan. 1, 2018, $190 effective Jan. 1, 2019. Uniforms/clothing: Protective clothing and equipment, including ear protection, supplied as required by employer. Work gloves, rain jackets and pants, 2 pairs of coveralls provided. Sample rates of pay, current: Masters: $42.61 per hour rising in 9 steps to $56.30 Chief engineers: $41.17 rising in 9 steps to $51.66 Second engineers: $38.10 rising in 9 steps to $43.89 Mates: $38.10 rising in 9 steps to $43.89 Non-certificated mates: $37.07 rising in 9 steps to $42.85 Second mates: $38.04 rising in 9 steps to $42.85 Third engineers: $38.04 rising in 9 steps to $42.85 Second mates (new-hires): $37.80 rising in 9 steps to $43.58 Third engineers (new-hires): $37.80 rising in 9 steps to $43.58 Editor's notes: Marine disaster and mishap: $1,600 for shift vessels, $2,000 for continuously operating vessels when officer suffers loss of personal effects or equipment related to a wreck or marine disaster. Travel insurance: $2,000 coverage when employee is dispatched or discharged from a vessel away from their home. Employer will also bear responsibility for transportation, wages, and board and lodging costs. Time and one-half for all shifts on a designated day off. Overtime: Double time paid for all hours worked beyond regular schedule. Overtime calculated at time and one-half. Overtime capped at $3,500.
