Provincewide, Prince Edward Island (230 labourers) and UA Canada, Local 721 Renewal agreement: Effective July 18, 2016, to Feb. 28, 2019. Signed on July 18, 2016. Wage adjustments: Effective March 1, 2017: 1.8% Effective March 1, 2018: 1.6% Shift premium: Foreman rate: $1.50 per hour for commercial and industrial jobs valued be- tween $100,000 and $250,000; $3 per hour for jobs valued at more than $250,000. Paid holidays: 10 days. Vacations with pay: 8%. Overtime: Double time for work on a holiday. Time and one-half for all other overtime work. Meal allowance: $20 for work- ers who are not notified before 9 p.m. the previous evening of work out of town. Meal provid- ed for workers who are working 2 hours of overtime without be- ing informed of required over- time in the previous 24-hour period. Meals provided every 4 hours, maximum $20 value. Pension: Local Union Pension Fund. Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (father, stepfather, mother, step- mother, spouse, child, brother, sister, stepchild, mother-in-law, father-in-law). 1 day for death of grandparent or grandparent of employee's spouse. Uniforms/clothing: For weld- ers, the following will be pro- vided by the employer: welding mitts, welder coat, welding hood when required, fire extin- guisher, fire blanket. Tool allowance: Copper pipecutters will be supplied with: 1 plumb bob, 1 tri-square, 1 torpedo level, 1 adjustable wrench, 1 16-foot measuring tape, 1 set of pipe wrenches to 18 inches, 2 hammers (1 ball peen, 1 claw), 1 hacksaw frame, 1 pair of vise grips, 1 tool box of adequate size for personal tools. Mileage: $0.58 per kilometre outside a 25-kilometre radius around Charlottetown and Summerside. On projects which are greater than 64 kilo- metres away, employees will be paid an additional $2 per day for each 15 kilometres over 64 kilometres. Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 3.4% increase): Industrial plumbing and pip- efitting workers July 17, 2016: $39.39 March 1, 2017: $40.09 March 1, 2018: $40.74 Plumbing, ventilation and heat- ing workers July 17, 2016: $36.46 March 1, 2017: $37.16 March 1, 2018: $37.81 Editor's notes: Outside work: No member of the union employed under the terms of this agreement shall do work at his trade or connected work for any other person or persons outside the regular hours as laid down in this agreement. First offence: $50 fine and 1-week suspension; second offence: $100 fine and 1-month suspension; third offence: expulsion from the union for 1 year. Safety training: When an employee is required to complete a safety course (WHMIS, fall arrest, safety orientation, first aid and confined space) the employer will pay the employee the regular wage rate for time on the course, providing the employee successfully completes it. Industry improvement fund: $0.26 per hour per employee to the fund. Cellphones: Employees shall not use cellphones while at work on the job site. FOOD PRODUCTION Trophy Foods Calgary (116 food production factory workers) and United Food and Commercial Workers Canada (UFCW), Local 401 Renewal agreement: Effective March 1, 2015, to Feb. 28, 2019. Ratified on March 8, 2016. Signed on March 8, 2016. Wage adjustments: Effective March 1, 2015: $0.45 Effective March 1, 2016: $0.45 Effective March 1, 2017: $0.60 Effective March 1, 2018: $0.70 Shift premium: Lead hand pre- mium: $1 per hour. Afternoon shift: $0.40 per hour for shifts starting at 2 p.m. or later. Night shift: $0.60 per hour for shifts starting at 10 p.m. or later. Paid holidays: 11 days. Double time and one-half for work on holidays. Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 4 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 7 years. 4% for temporary seasonal workers. Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week, paid in 15-minute incre- ments. Dental: United Food and Com- mercial Workers' Union Dental Care Plan. Employer will remit $0.32 per hour per employee to the fund. Vision: $200 every 24 months. Sick leave: 5 days per year. STD: Employer covers 60% of premiums. 66 2/3% of salary starting on 4 th day of sickness, maximum 120 days. Bereavement leave: 4 days for death in immediate family (spouse, common-law spouse, same-sex spouse, son, daughter, mother, father, sister, brother). 3 days for death in extended fam- ily (mother-in-law, father-in- law, grandparent, grandchild, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law). 1 day for death in other family (aunts, uncles, nieces, neph- ews). Seniority – recall rights: 6 months. Call-in pay: 4 hours' minimum. Probationary period: 3 months. Safety shoes: $100 for CSA- approved safety footwear. May be carried over into next year once only for a total of $200. Uniforms/clothing: Company supplies all uniforms. Tool allowance: $350 for mill- wrights, tradespeople for main- tenance of standard tools. Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after $1.30 per hour increase): Packer Starting: $18.96 rising 2 steps to $20.26 3 months: $19.71 rising 2 steps to $21.01 10 years: $20.71 rising 2 steps to $22.01 Union access: Representatives are entitled to visit the plant to observe working conditions.
