Employment in the province grew by 105,000 (1.5%) last year. 13,000 Total job loss in Alberta in November, the largest decrease nationwide. Compared with November 2015, employment is down 30,000 (1.3%). 14,000 November job gains in the finance, insurance, real estate and leasing sector, for a total gain of 51,000 (4.7%) on a year- over-year basis. 14,000 Construction jobs fell in November — mostly in Alberta and Quebec, partly offsetting the previous month's increase. 4.8% Growth in employment for women 55 and older (80,000) from November 2015 to November 2016 — the largest job growth of all demographic groups. 2.3% Growth in employment for men 55 and older for the same period (47,000).
