4 Canadian HR Reporter, a Thomson Reuters business 2017 COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS January 30, 2017 CONSTRUCTION Construction Labour Relations Association of Manitoba Provincewide, Manitoba (1,100 workers, electricians) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (AFL-CIO/CLC) Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2016, to April 30, 2020. Signed on June 1, 2016. Wage adjustments: Effective May 1, 2017: 3.5% Effective May 1, 2018: 3.5% Effective May 1, 2019: 3.5% Shift premium: Time and one- half for work at elevations of 45 feet or more and all work per- formed over water, head gates, bridges, spillways. Paid holidays: 12 days. Vacations with pay: 4 weeks. Overtime: Time and one-half for first 2 hours worked be- yond regular shift Monday to Friday, double-time beyond 2 hours. Double time for all hours worked on Saturdays, Sundays and statutory holidays for in- dustrial workers. Time and one- half for first 8 hours worked on Saturdays for commercial workers. Meal allowance: $20 or hot meal if more than 10 hours are worked and every 4 hours thereafter. Medical benefits: Joint contri- butions to Local 2085 Health and Welfare Fund. Pension: Joint contributions to union pension fund. Employee contributions to group RRSP. Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours' pay when hired by a representa- tive of employer and then re- fused work at site. Minimum 3 hours' pay for reporting to work if no work available. 4 hours' pay when required to take med- ical examination. Tool allowance: Employer will replace tools lost from theft or destroyed by fire. Employer will supply all tools not listed under employee's tool list. Sample rates of hourly pay (current): Journeyperson: $40.90 Job steward, foreman 1: $42.95 Foreman 2: $44.99 Foreman 3: $47.04 Foreman 4, general foreman 1: $49.08 General foreman 2: $51.13 General foreman 3: $53.17 General foreman 4: $55.22 First-year apprentice: $16.36 Second-year apprentice: $20.45 Third-year apprentice: $26.59 Fourth-year apprentice: $32.72 Editor's notes: Phone service: On camp jobs, telephone service will be provided by the employer 24 hours a day (when services are available), on the basis of 1 telephone per bunkhouse with a separate line per phone where pos- sible. Telephones will be in a totally enclosed, heated and ventilated room. TRANSPORTATION Ken Johnson Trucking Provincewide, British Columbia (36 truck drivers) and Teamsters, Local 31 Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2017, to Dec. 31, 2017. Signed on Oct. 24, 2016. Shift premium: $2.50 per hour for instructional drivers while training. $0.50 per hour for employee holding first-aid certificate. Paid holidays: 11 days. Vacations with pay: 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 120 hours or 6% after 3 years, 160 hours or 8% after 9 years, 200 hours or 10% after 15 years, 240 hours or 12% after 21 years. Overtime: Double time for all hours worked after 8 or 10 hours per day or 40 hours per week. Double time for first 8 hours worked on a statutory holiday; triple time for the next 2 hours; quadruple time for the next 2 hours. Medical benefits: Teamsters' Transport Health and Welfare Trust Plan. Company pays 100% of premiums. Sick leave: After 1 year of ser- vice, employee receives ½ day for each month, maximum 30 days. Pension: Teamsters' National Pension Plan. $2.45 per hour contributed by the employer. Bereavement leave: 3 days for death in immediate family (parent, spouse, brother, sister, child, parent-in-law, sister-in- law, brother-in-law, stepchil- dren, legal guardian, grandpar- ents, spouse's grandparents, spouse's grand-children). Seniority – recall rights: 1 year, 18 months for employees with 5 years' seniority. Probationary period: 90 days. Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months. Mileage: 5-axle: $0.37 per kilo- metre. 6-axle: $0.37 per kilome- tre. 7-axle: $0.38 per kilometre. 8-axle: $0.38 per kilometre. Ocean ferries pay: When employees are required to ride ocean ferries with their equipment on ferry trips that exceed 8 hours (Port Hardy to Prince Rupert, Alaska ferries) they will be paid at straight time hourly rate for one-half the total hours spent making the trip. Union label: Employee may post Teamsters' union labels on the glass area of the equipment he is operating, maximum 3 inches by 4 inches, and not to be attached to any area which will impair the vision of the driver. Bunk sizing: Bunks in tractors which are intended for use as sleeper cab equipment will be not less than 28" wide.
