5 Canadian HR Reporter, a Thomson Reuters business 2017 CANADIAN LABOUR REPORTER COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS EDUCATION Calgary Board of Education Calgary (3,416 educators, administrators, maintenance, IT employees) and Calgary Board of Education Staff Association Renewal agreement: Effective Sept. 1, 2015, to Aug. 31, 2017. Signed on Jan. 20, 2017. Shift premium: 10% above regular rate for shifts that begin or end between 6:01 p.m. and 6:59 a.m. Paid holidays: 12 days. Vacations with pay: 1.25 days per month, maximum 15 days to start, 15 days after 1 year, 20 days after 5 years, 25 days after 16 years, 30 days after 25 years. Overtime: Time and one-half after 7 hours per day for first 2 hours, double time thereafter. Time and one-half for any hours worked on Saturday, Sunday and holidays for first 2 hours, double time thereafter. Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan. Employer contributes $800 (previously $750) to a health-spending account. Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Sick leave: 1 day per pay period, maximum 240 days. LTD: Employee pays 100% of premiums. AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Pension: Local Authorities Pension Plan. Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of near-relative (spouse, common-law spouse, grandparent, parent, legal guardians, brother, sister, child, legal wards, grandchild, spouses of all previously mentioned, any other relative who has resided in home for at least 2 years). Additional 2 days for travel time. Seniority – recall rights: 1 year. Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours' pay at double time. Probationary period: 6 months. Discipline: Sunset clause is 1 year. Wage adjustments: Effective Oct. 1, 2016: 2% Effective Oct. 1, 2017: 2% Effective Oct. 1, 2018: 2% Shift premium: $0.80 per hour for all hours of work or portion thereof between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. $1 per hour for all hours of work or portion thereof between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Paid holidays: 12 days. Employees whose primary work location is a casino may be required to recognize Easter Sunday instead of Easter Monday and Christmas Eve instead of Boxing Day. When Dec. 24 falls on a Monday through Friday, employees can cease work at 1 p.m. If an employee works a regular work day on Dec. 24, he will be entitled to one-half day of compensation leave up to 4 hours. May be taken as time off in lieu. Medical benefits: Employer pays premium for flexible health plan with 5 options for coverage. Dental: Paid for by employer. Flexible plan with 5 options. $1,700 annual maximum for dental services. $1,700 to $2,100 lifetime maximum for orthodontic services. Vision: Paid for by employer. Flexible plan, up to $325 Stampede day: Employees who work on Calgary Stampede parade day shall receive one-half day off with pay.
