5 Administrative Assistant's UPDATE By Arnold Villeneuve Microsoft Word has some very powerful hidden features that allow you to use the software much more effi ciently. We have all been using the mouse to navigate our documents for decades. But there is a real benefi t of using the combination of the keyboard and mouse at the same time. Last month we demonstrated how to select a paragraph, select a sentence, create a horizontal line, in- stantly create subscript or superscript and delete whole words. Here are fi ve more quick tips and examples for using Microsoft Word that will save you time and make your documents more impressive. Discover Microsoft Word's hidden features Paint that text Use Format Painter feature to quickly apply a particular format to a new area. Generate random text Typing =rand(8,10) and then pressing Enter will automatically generate random text you can use for testing the page formatting, fonts, etc. Go back to where you were To move cursor to the location where it was when you last saved the document press Shift + F5. Increase or decrease the font size quickly Select some text; if you press Ctrl + Shift + > the font size of the selected text will increase. To decrease the font size use Ctrl + Shift + < combination. Instant table – just add cells To quickly create a table, type a plus sign (+) then press Tab key; again type a plus and again press Tab key; do this as many times as the number of cells you want in your table. Then press Enter. And table shall appear!
