3 Administrative Assistant's UPDATE By Leslie Hughes Artificial intelligence (AI) is continuing to pave its way into the future of technology and communication. Essentially artificial intelligence is a way of machine-based learning, where our computers are learning how to become more like humans. Historically, computers have only been able to pro- cess information literally. Thanks to artificial intelligence, computers are now learning nuances of language and col- loquialisms so they can predict what you might say or need next. This is obviously a big discussion that far exceeds what we can cover here, but suffice it to say, LinkedIn is trying to leverage the capabilities of artificial intelligence to save your chat time online. In this example, you can see how LinkedIn has pre-populated three different options of "Great!", "See you then" or "Me too" so you only have to click on the copy instead of typing it in the appropriate field. LinkedIn claims it will be improving this functionality over time so that it's more personalized and relevant to the way you speak. Like it or hate it, there's no way we can avoid the fact that computers are going to get smarter and more "human- like". Beyond LinkedIn, this kind of communication will continue to grow with the use of chat bots and messaging. The futuristic world of George Jetson is officially here, and it's here to stay.
