ratifi es
fi rst deal
with Unifor
MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Air
Georgian in Mississauga, Ont.,
ratified a three-year collective
bargaining agreement with Uni-
for on June 15, with 91 per cent
of members voting in favour of
the agreement.
"We pride ourselves in creat-

er Air Georgian," said Julie Mail-
hot, Air Georgian's COO. "This
agreement is industry-leading
and will support the recruitment
and retention of aviation talent
at Air Georgian."
Air Georgian and Unifor
worked collaboratively to pro-
duce the first-ever contract, said
the company.
Unifor represents 90 of Air
Georgian's employees working
in maintenance, administration
and the flight operations centre
at Air Georgian's Toronto and
Calgary bases.
The agreement is effective as
of June 1, according to Air Geor-
gian.
Highlights of the plan includes
wage increases, performance
incentive bonuses, enhanced
group benefits and savings pro-
grams, said the company.
Employees
at Unibéton
sign new
agreement
QUEBEC — United Food and
Commercial Workers Canada
(UFCW), Local 501 members
working at Unibéton loca-
tions in Quebec City, Beauport,
Sainte-Marie and Saint-Basile in
Quebec, ratified a new collective
agreement on June 14.
The workers are employed
as cement truck drivers, mixer
feeders and quarry customer
service agents and have been a
part of UFCW 501 since 2002,
said the union.
The new five-year deal con-
tains wage increases totaling
13.25 per cent throughout the
contract duration, according to
UFCW.
"This agreement builds on the
gains that members at Unibéton
have been enjoying since 2002,"
said Daniel Nadeau, UFCW 501
director for Eastern Quebec. "In
addition to increased security,
members will also see improve-
ments to wages and pensions."
The collective agreement also
includes two per cent retroac-
tive wage increases in addition
to a lump sum of $0.50 per hour
worked from Feb. 18, improved
group insurance with employer
contributing 50 per cent, an 11
per cent increase in the employ-
er's contribution to the pension
plan and a 10 per cent increase
in safety bonuses and cement-
mixer cleaning bonuses in 2020,
said the union.
Strike at CMC
Electronics in
Saint-Laurent,
Que., ends
SAINT-LAURENT, Que. —
CMC Electronics workers in
Saint-Laurent, Que., who are
members of Unifor, Local 2889,
ended a two-week strike on June
14 over a defined benefit pen-
sion plan.
In addition to resolving the
main issue involving the pen-
sion plan, the union negotiated
a three-year contract with wage
increases of 5.75 per cent and the
maintenance of health benefits
paid for by the employer, accord-
ing to Unifor.
