3 Canadian HR Reporter, a HAB Press business 2020 Shift premium: $0.70 per hour for all hours of work that fall outside 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. shift (when employees work 4 hours or more outside 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., employees will be paid premium for full shift). Paid holidays: 10 days plus working day before Christmas Day. Vacations with pay: 1 day per month, maximum 10 days, to start, 1 1/4 days per month, maximum 15 days, after 1 year, 1 2/3 days per month, maximum 20 days, after 7 years, 2 1/12 days per month, maximum 25 days, after 16 years, 2 1/2 days per month, maximum 30 days, after 25 years. Overtime: Time and one-half for any time worked by employees after 7-hour workday, exclusive of meal breaks, or 35-hour workweek. May be saved and taken as time off in lieu, maximum 40 hours of accumulation. Double time and one-half for all work on holiday, grant day, Saturday or Sunday of holiday weekend. Meal allowance: $14 (previously $12) for employees required to work minimum 2 hours overtime before or after but joined to normal shift or employee required to work 4 or more hours on overtime, on Saturday, Sunday, holiday. Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Dental: 100% coverage for basic services. 70% coverage for prosthetic (dentures) expenses. 85% coverage for orthodontic expenses, individual lifetime maximum benefit of $5,000. 80% coverage for restorative services (dental implants, caps, crowns and bridges) individual maximum benefit of $5,000 per year. Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Single coverage, maximum $425 every 24 months (previously $400 every 24 months), no deductible. Single coverage, maximum of $350 every 24 months (previously $300 every 24 months), no deductible (for employees whose position requires them to wear safety glasses). May be used towards cost of laser eye surgery. Single coverage for eye examinations performed by qualified optometrist, maximum $115 every 24 months. Sick leave: 1.5 days at end of each month of employment, starting from appointment date (except for months in which employees are absent for more than 15 days other than on approved paid leave (excluding sick leave)). Unused credits will accumulate from year to year. LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Life insurance: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums. Pension: York University Pension Plan. Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of parent, spouse, same- sex partner, brother, sister, child, current ward, legal guardian, grandparent, grandchild. 3 days for death of mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, stepparent, stepchild. If overnight travel beyond Toronto is necessary, maximum 5 days of unpaid leave will be given. Seniority – recall rights: 1 year for employee who accepts position outside of bargaining unit; 12 months for layoffs. Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours' pay (if in excess of 35-hour workweek) at overtime rate or actual hours worked at overtime rate, whichever is greater. Probationary period: 3 months. Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months; 18 months for letters regarding suspension or discharge. Severance: 2 weeks' pay for each year of service, maximum 15 years; 3 weeks' pay for each additional year of service after 15, total maximum of 60 weeks, as enhanced severance. 1 weeks' pay for each year of service, maximum 15 years; 2 weeks' pay for each additional year of service after 15, total maximum of 26 weeks, as regular severance. Safety shoes: $200 per year for employees who are required to wear safety shoes or boots. Uniforms/clothing: Employer will assume all expenses providing and maintaining protective clothing, equipment or devices. Tool allowance: $100 per person per year replacement hand-tool allowance (unused portion may not be accrued beyond 2 years). Training: Employer will allocate $55,000 (previously $50,000) during each year of collective agreement (Aug. 1 to July 31) for development, implementation, evaluation of individual or group training programs for members of bargain- ing unit. Employer will make available to YusApuY $12,500, effective Aug. 1 of each year of collective agreement, for YusApuY-developed programs. Committee time off: Employer will grant, maximum 18 days per contract year, time off with pay for current members of JHSCs and central health and safety steering group, to attend health and safety education or training sessions conducted in Ontario. Summer hours: From Friday prior to Victoria Day to Labour Day, normal workday for all employees will be reduced, by 1 hour every Friday or last day of employee's workweek. Any employee who works extra hour in June due to convocation will be granted alternate hour(s) off. On-call: $2 for each on-call hour; $3.50 per hour for university holidays or grant days. Hearing care: Employer pays 100% of pre- miums for single coverage, maximum $1,500 every 36 months (employee may elect to pay additional premiums re- quired to extend coverage to family). Immunization: $200 maximum per year per family. Orthotics: Maximum $2,000 every 24 months per person.
