March 30, 2020 March 30, 2020 Canadian HR Reporter, a HAB Press business 2020 COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS 6 TRANSPORTATION TRANSPORTATION Swissport Canada Ottawa (110 mechanics, ramp agents) and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), Local 140, 2413 Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2021. Signed on March 5, 2019. Shift premium: $1 per hour for employees physically working designated midnight shift. $20 per long tow (Nav Can assisted, crossing runways, taxiways) for D AVOP (airside vehicle operators' permits) qualified employees who perform tows (1-time lump sum bonus of $100 for employees who obtain or renew D permit from airport authority). $3 per hour for lead- hands. $2 per hour for OPS. $15 per day for temporary supervisors. Paid holidays: 10 days. Vacations with pay: 1 day per month, maximum 10 days or 4%, to start, 2 weeks or 4% after 1 year, 3 weeks or 6% after 5 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 10 years. Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after scheduled hours or one scheduled days off. Employer will pay $8 1-time allowance should any employee work in excess of 1 hour against employee's wish for emergency overtime. Time may be banked, maximum 80 hours per year for full-time employees, 40 hours per year for part-time employees. Full-time employee must use minimum of 40 hours of banked time during year and employer will only be required to pay out maximum of 40 hours for any 1 year. Banked hours beyond 40 will not be carried over from year to year. If employee has not liquidated banked hours by Dec. 31. employee will be paid for any remaining hours at next closest pay period. Medical benefits: Employer pays 85% of premiums, employee pays 15% of premiums. Dental: Employer pays 85% of premiums, employee pays 15% of premiums for coverage of 80% for basic services. Vision: Coverage of $250 every 24 months (100% co-insurance); $200 every 12 months for dependants younger than 18. $50 every 24 months for eye examinations. Paramedical: Coverage of $700 per year (100% co-insurance) for physiotherapist, occupational therapist. STD: Employer pays 85% of premiums, employee pays 15% of premiums for coverage of 66.67% of weekly earnings, maximum $2,500. AD&D: Employer pays 85% of premiums, employee pays 15% of premiums for coverage of $50,000. Life insurance: Employer pays 85% of premiums, employee pays 15% of premiums for coverage of $50,000. Pension: Employer will contribute $44 biweekly (previously $40 biweekly) to individual RRSP. Bereavement leave: For death in immediate family (employee's spouse or common-law partner; employee's father and mother and spouse or common-law partner of father or mother; employee's child(ren) and child(ren) of employee's spouse or common-law partner; employee's grandchild(ren); employee's brothers and sisters; grandfather and grandmother of employee; father and mother of spouse or common-law partner of employee; spouse or common-law partner of father or mother; brother-in-law and sister-in-law; relative of employee who resides with employee), 5 days for spouse, common-law partner, parents, children or next 4 succeeding days off plus 1 additional day for day of funeral. For other immediate family member, employee would receive next 3 succeeding days off or next 2 succeeding days off plus 1 additional day for day of funeral. Employees may request unpaid leave of absence for death of aunt, uncle, niece, nephew or first cousin. Employee may request maximum additional 10 days unpaid leave if death or burial occurs outside 500-kilometre radius from employees' residence or outside of Canada. Seniority – recall rights: 60 calendar days for employee permanently transferred from 1 classification to another classification; 8 months for employee who is transferred to salaried employment as supervisor directly supervising employees under agreement; period equal to employment, maximum 2 years, for layoffs. Call-in pay: Minimum of 4 hours of work at appropriate overtime rate. Probationary period: 120 calendar days. Safety shoes: $125 per year for CSA-approved safety shoes or boots. $50 to PSA employees for black shoes for passenger service, after 1 year of service. Tool allowance: 2 hours of pay per pay period for employees in mechanic classification; 1 hour of pay per pay period for employees in mechanic-helper classification. Parking: Employer will provide or make available parking for airport employees at no cost to employee. Personal days: 4 paid personal days per year (16 hours for part-time employees) after 12 months of employment. Training: Time and one-half for any training carried out on employee's day. Longevity premiums: $0.25 per hour after 15 years of service; additional $0.10 per hour after 25 years of service. License renewal: If mechanic's license expires during period of agreement, employer will pay for renewal of license. Special transportation: $8 per day as transportation allowance (to be paid biweekly for employees) who are rostered to work split-shifts. Longevity premiums: $0.25 per hour after 15 years of service.
