EDUCATION York University Toronto (1,627 office support workers) and the York University Staff Association (YusApuY) Renewal agreement: Effective Aug. 1, 2018 to July 31, 2021. Ratified on Jan. 23, 2019. Wage adjustments: Effective Aug. 1, 2018: 2.3% Effective Aug. 1, 2019: 2.2% Effective Aug. 1, 2020: 2.1% Shift premium: $0.70 per hour for all full scheduled hours of work outside hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; when em- ployees work 4 hours or more outside 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., em- ployees will be paid premium for full shift. Where arrange- ments are made, at request of employee, such that employee works outside hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., employee will not be eligible for premiums. Paid holidays: 11 days. Vacations with pay: 1 day per month, maximum 10 days to start, 1 1/4 days per month, maximum 15 days per year after 1 year, 1 2/3 days per month, maximum 20 days per year after 7 years, 2 1/12 days per month, maximum 25 days per year after 16 years, 2 1/2 days per month, maximum 30 days per year after 25 years. Overtime: Time and one-half for any time worked at direc- tion of supervisor in excess of 7 hours per day or 35 hours per week. Minimum 3 hours' pay for working on scheduled day off. Meal allowance: $14 for employees required to work at least 2 hours of overtime before or after normal shift or 4 hours on Saturday, Sunday, holiday (previously $12); $14, if meetings exceed three and one-half hours in 1 day, for members of joint job evalua- tion and appeals committees when meeting to evaluate job evaluation questionnaires. Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for ex- tended health care plan. Dental: 100% coverage for basic services; 70% for pros- thetic (dentures) expenses; 85% for orthodontic expenses, individual maximum lifetime benefit of $5,000; 80% for restorative services (dental implants, caps, crowns and bridges) individual per-year maximum benefit of $5,000. Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums for maximum $425 every 24 months, no deductible. Single coverage maximum of $350 every 4 months, no deductible, for employees whose position requires them to wear safety glasses. Coverage may be used towards cost of laser eye sur- gery. Sick leave: 1.5 days for each month employees are not absent more than 15 working days other than on approved paid leave (excluding sick leave). Credits can accumulate from year to year. LTD: Employer pays 100% for LTD plan. Life insurance: Employer pays 50%, employee pays 50% of group life insurance plan. Bereavement leave: 5 con- secutive working days for death of parent, spouse, sib- ling, current ward, legal guard- ian, grandparent, grandchild. 3 consecutive working days for death of parent-in-law, sibling-in-law, child-in-law, stepparent, stepchild. Up to 5 days unpaid leave may be given if overnight travel beyond To- ronto is necessary. Seniority – recall rights: 1 year for employee who accepts position outside of bargaining unit. Call-in pay: Time and one- half at minimum of 1 hour's pay for an off-site call. Min- imum 3 hours for call at uni- versity. 2.5 times for call on holiday or grant day. Probationary period: 3 months for employees working more than 24 hours per week, 6 months for employees work- ing between 14 and 24 hours per week. Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for discipline other than suspension or discharge; 18 months for notice of sus- pension or discharge. Severance: 1 week's pay for each completed year of service to 15 years and 2 weeks' pay for each additional completed year, maximum of 26 weeks. Enhanced severance: 2 weeks' pay for each completed year of service to 15 years and 3 weeks' pay for each additional completed year, maximum of 60 weeks. Uniforms/clothing: Cost and maintenance of uniforms covered by employer, where uniforms are required. Sample rates of yearly pay (current, after 4.3% in- crease): Band 1: $42,336 rising 2 steps to $44,176 Band 5: $49,516 rising 2 steps to $51,668 Band 10: $61,044 rising 2 steps to $63,698 Band 15: $76,796 rising 2 steps to $80,133 Band 20: $99,244 rising 2 steps to $103,558 Band 21: $104,570 rising 2 steps to $109,115 Editor's notes: Personal short-term paid leave: Maximum 3 working days in each anniversary year to meet situations that cannot reasonably be scheduled outside normal working hours. Daycare: Employees working more than 24 hours per week and with children attending York University daycare centre allowed up to 4 hours per week during normal working hours to perform daycare duties, provided that time is made up at time satisfactory to supervisor. Pre-retire- ment: Employees older than 55 who have notified employer of intention to retire are entitled to 1 day's leave with pay for each 10 days' sick leave accumulation in excess of 120 days up to 5 days, during 12 months prior to retirement. 1 extra week of vacation for employees whose age plus service equals 80, if employees have reached 60 years of age or 55 years of age and have notified employer of intention to retire before age 60. Summer hours: Every Friday (or last day of employee's work week) will be reduced by 1 hour from Friday prior to Victoria Day to Labour Day. Training fund: Employer will allo- cate $55,000 during each year of collective agreement (Aug. 1 to July 31) for training purposes. Employer will also make available to YusApuY $12,500, effective Aug. 1 of each year of collective agreement for YusApuY-developed programs. On-call pay: $2 per hour for each hour on-call, $3.50 per hour on holidays, grant days (previously $3.15 per hour ). Hear- ing care: Maximum $1,500 every 36 months.
