COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS vacation money will be paid to estate of deceased employee. Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked in excess of scheduled working hours or for hours worked on scheduled days off. Vision: $225 every 12 months for 18 years and younger; $450 every 24 months for other per- sons covered. Reimbursement 100% for 1 eye exam every 2 years. $1,000. 1-time payment for laser eye surgery for em- ployees only (no dependants) and $450 glass coverage may be used, if required. STD: Coverage of 66 2/3% of regular earnings, maximum $1,000 per week, coverage commencing on first day of accident; eighth day of illness; payable for 26 weeks. LTD: Coverage of 66 2/3% of monthly earnings, maximum $2,500 per month for first 26 weeks; after 26 weeks, 66 2/3% of monthly earnings, maximum $1,700 per month. AD&D: Coverage of 1 times annual salary. Life insurance: Coverage of 1 times annual salary. Pension: Employer will con- tribute $29 per month (pre- viously $28 per month) per year of service into Diamond International Trucks Ltd. Pen- sion Plan. Bereavement leave: 3 days (after 3 months of service) for death of relative of either em- ployee or spouse, common-law spouse (wife, husband, chil- dren, mother, father, brother, sister, grandparents, grand- children). 1 additional day with pay if employee has to travel out of province. Seniority – recall rights: 1 year after layoff. Probationary period: 60 days worked, may be extended fur- ther 30 days worked. Discipline: Sunset clause is 12 months for disciplinary action; 24 months for incidents of sexual misconduct, racism, theft, gross negligence, bully- ing, threats of violence, acts of violence. Severance: 40 hours after 3 months of service; 80 hours after 2 years of service. Safety shoes: $15 per month, maximum 21 months, for CSA safety boots, related accessor- ies. Uniforms/clothing: Employer will supply uniforms, cover- alls, smocks, maximum 5 per week. Employer supply each parts employee with 4 work shirts to last employee for 1 year. In subsequent years, em- ployer will issue 2 additional shirts per year if required, on anniversary date of first issue. Employer will supply 2 pairs of winter coveralls, 6 winter jackets for service employees. Employer will supply 3 winter jackets for parts department. Tool allowance: $475 for journeyman, apprentice mech- anics. Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 2% increase): Service base rate Journeyman mechanic: $45.93 rising 2 steps to $46.85 Labourer: $17.23 rising 2 steps to $17.57 Parts Journeyman parts technician: $40.58 rising 2 steps to $41.40 Shipper receiver: $27.60 rising 2 steps to $28.16 Inventory control clerk: $25.12 rising 2 steps to $25.62 Temporary employee: $17.23 rising 2 steps to $17.57 Sample rates of hourly pay (current): Parts Driver: $24.59 Clerks Junior clerk: $19.56 Clerk 1: $20.99 Clerk 2: $25.03 Clerk 3: $29.67 Apprentices First-year apprenticeship: 60% of journeyman's base rate Second-year apprenticeship: 70% of journeyman's base rate Third-year apprenticeship: 85% of journeyman's base rate Upon completion of appren- ticeship with pass: 100% of journeyman's base rate Editor's notes: On-call pay: All journeyman, third-year apprentice parts technicians will rotate for on-call purposes: $300 for Saturday/Sunday coverage; $350 for Saturday/Sunday with statutory holiday coverage; week's coverage falling on December statutory holidays will be paid additional $350 (total of $700); $80 per invoice generated or no-show. Tuition fees: Maximum $1,000 per level for training course tuition fees for apprentices (after 1 year of service) for parts technician, truck and transport mechanics (or equivalent). TELECOMMUNICATIONS Shaw Communications (White Rock) White Rock, B.C. Shift premium: Double time, minimum 1 hour, for time or occasion spent above 40 feet for all employees climbing, descending, working on tower, pole, side of building. Mini- mum 1 hour of pay at double time on any 1 day that employ- ee works high time or accumu- lated time spent, whichever is greater, for employees working from scaffold from ground lev- el (roof will constitute ground) higher than 40 feet. Minimum 1 hour of pay at double time when foreman decides there is hazard to safety of employee. 10% of hourly rate (straight- time pay) for all hours worked on Sunday. 10% of hourly rate (straight-time) for all hours worked on afternoon shift (between noon and 11 p.m.). 15% of hourly rate (straight time) for all hours worked on special-projects shift and for night shift (between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m.). Employee will be paid at overtime rate for all hours worked which fall within 16-hour change-over time period when employee is designated as replacement and changes shifts with less than 16 hours off job between end of prior work period and start of newly assigned work period. 10% above journeyman broadband network technician for A foreman; 5% above jour- neyman broadband network technician for B foreman; 10% above journeyman broadband network technician for in- charge premium. Paid holidays: 12 days plus one-half day on Christmas Eve; one-half day on New Year's Eve.
