employee who designs new course that has not previously been offered at university and which is not listed in univer- sity's course calendar. $750, payable by May 31 each year, for award to recognize teach- ing excellence (part-time fac- ulty members only). Paid holidays: 10 days. Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums for extended health care for ac- tive employees not covered by another benefit plan who are employed for more than 3 months during academic year. Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums for dental care for active employees not cov- ered by another benefit plan who are employee for more than 3 months during aca- demic year. Sick leave: Absences due to illness, injury or medical procedure permitted with notification to immediate su- pervisor. Medical certificate must be provided for absences greater than 1 calendar week (previously no specified pe- riod). Office space and facilities: Employer will provide employees with appropriate office/labo- ratory space/facilities and equipment to assist them in performance of duties, including computer, internet access, telephone, internal mailbox, computer user account, office supplies, access to printing/copying, long-distance access code/reimbursement for long-distance charges incurred in performance of their duties. Course materials: Employee departments will ensure employees are provided, at no charge, textbooks and required course materials which have been determined to be required in performance of duties. Essential access: In event of strike or lockout, where employ- ee is engaged in research at Trent with knowledge and concurrence of appropriate officials and access is necessary to prevent damage to research projects, bargaining-unit members will be granted access through AVP, human resources. Cancellation of position: When offer of appointment has been made and accepted and appointment is subsequently cancelled by employer prior to scheduled commencement of employment, employee will receive cancellation stipend: 0% of stipend with 8 or more weeks of notice; 5% of stipend with 4 to 8 weeks of notice; 10% of stipend with 2 to 4 weeks of notice; 15% of stipend within less than 2 weeks of notice. Teaching support fund: Employer will provide $4.25 per student course to provide employees, who teach course with more than 50 students, with marking assistance and teaching support.
