hour foe employees required to work in environment that requires protective cloth- ing, breathing apparatus or removal of asbestos. 5% for lead-hands on jobsite where foreman is not regularly avail- able. 10% for foreman 1; 15% for foreman 2. Paid holidays: 10 days. Vacations with pay: 10% to start, 12% after 10 years, 13% after 15 years, 14% after 20 years. Vacation periods will be arranged by mutual agree- ment between employer and employee. Overtime: Time and one-half for all work performed on Saturdays, statutory holidays, and any hours in excess of 44 in workweek. Double time for all work performed on Sun- days. Medical benefits: CLAC Health Fund. LTD: Employees pay 100% of premiums. Pension: Employer and em- ployee both contribute to CLAC DC pension plan. Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours' pay for working on service call outside regular hours of work. Minimum 4 hours' pay for weekend service calls. Mileage: $45 per day for employees who travel mini- mum of 60 kilometres from residence to jobsite; $50 per day for employees who travel minimum of 135 kilometres from residence (new); $55 per day for employees who travel minimum of 200 kilometres from their (previously $50); $60 per day for employees who travel minimum of 400 kilometres from residence (previously $55); $75 per day for employees who are required to travel by air to jobsite. 8 hours' pay for 1-way travel to any site beyond 750 kilometres from employee's place of residence. When job- site lies outside 135-kilometre radius from employee's resi- dence, accommodation will be guaranteed. Full cost of transportation for employees who use public transit. Sample current rates of pay: Journeyperson: $39.92 Electrician apprentices First-period: 40% of jour- neyperson's rate (plus 10% vacation pay plus benefits) Second-period: 50% of jour- neyperson's rate (plus 10% vacation pay plus benefits) Third-period: 60% of jour- neyperson's rate (plus 10% vacation pay plus benefits) Fourth-period: 70% of jour- neyperson's rate (plus 10% vacation pay plus benefits) Fifth-period: 80% of jour- neyperson's rate (plus 10% vacation pay plus benefits) Editor's notes: First-aid certificate: Employer will pay $100 for completion of first-aid certificate, including renewal and new certifications in effect for at least 24 months. Parking fees: Employer will reimburse employees for parking fees incurred for parking at sites where free parking is not readily available. Employer will reimburse employee, maximum $10 per day, in- lieu of reimbursed parking fees and where employee elects to use public means of ground transit, commercial ride-sharing service or taxi service. Education and assistance fund: Employer will contribute $0.20 per hour to union's education and as- sistance fund. Industry fund: Employer will contribute $0.08 per hour to union's industry fund. MASONRY CONSTRUCTION Masonry Contractors Association of Alberta Provincewide, Alberta (including District of MacKenzie in Northwest Territories) (500 bricklayers) and the International Union Of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers (BTA), Local 1 Alberta Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2019 to April 30, 2023. Signed on May 1, 2019. Shift premium: $4 per hour, above regular journeyman's rate for working foreman with 5 or more people under super- vision (including labourers); $3 per hour, above regular journeyman's rate for working foreman with less than 5 people under supervision (including labourers). $2.50 per hour on industrial sites where build- ing trades council has secured agreements. Paid holidays: 11 days. Vacations with pay: 6% basic pay. Overtime: Time and one-half for all overtime worked Mon- day to Friday inclusive; double time for all overtime worked Saturday, Sunday or legal and recognized holidays. Medical benefits: Employer contributes $1.10 per hour to Bricklayers and Allied Craft- workers Insurance Benefit Trust Fund of Alberta and Sas- katchewan. Pension: Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Pension Fund of Alberta and Saskatchewan. Employer contributes $3.50 per hour for journeyman. Em- ployer contributes $1.60 per hour, rising 2 steps to $2.65 per hour, for apprentices northern members (for northern mem- bers pension contributions, for journeymen and apprentices, $0.50 per hour will be remitted to bricklayers and trowel trades international pension fund). Employer contributes $2.10 per hour, rising 2 steps to $3.15 per hour, for apprentices southern members (for southern ap- prentices, contributions will be remitted into Alberta and Sas- katchewan pension plan). Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide safety glasses for all work requiring eye protection; water-proof gloves and apron for all work on wet saws. Tool allowance: Employer will provide scaffolding, special power-driven tools, suitable lock-up box, special tools and equipment other than all regu- lar hand tools of masonry trade. All saws for masonry work will be supplied by employer and operated by journeyman or ap- prentice. Mileage: $0.55 per kilometre to each employee using own vehicle beyond free zone for transportation beyond 30-kilo- metre free zone. Sample rates of pay (current, after 1.5% increase): Journeyman bricklayer: $40.45 rising 1 step to $41.05 First-year apprentice: $24.27 rising 1 step to $24.63 Second-year apprentice: $32.36 rising 1 step to $32.84 Third-year apprentice: $36.41 rising 1 step to $36.95 Editor's notes: Travel time: 1 hour of time per 90 kilometres (on pro-rata basis) will be paid from 30 kilometres from city limits to job site and return (measured by road mileage by shortest, reasonable possible route). Pulmonary Program: Em- ployer will ensure that $25,000 will be minimum amount in both Edmonton and Calgary bank accounts for training and for pulmonary assessment and WHMIS, first aid, CSTS fall protection, forklift training, scaffold course, fit testing, confined space, H2S Alive, fire extinguisher, platform scaffolding operation (Hydro, Fraco, Klimer), scissor lifts and man lifts training in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Act Chemical Hazards Regulation of Alberta.
