Editor's notes: Retirement gratuity: Employees who were employed prior to Jan. 1, 2020 and are eligible to retire and receive pension from Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Pension Plan will receive number of accumulated sick days in sick leave account, maximum 200 divided by 4 multiplied by base salary at 0 years of experience in employee's current step on most recent salary grid immediately prior to retirement, divided by 200. Maximum $5,000 gross or $50 per year of continuous service, whichever is greater. Personal leave: Employees who have worked for 2 consecutive months in school year will receive 16 hours or personal leave, with pay, each school year to attend to personal matters. Preparation time: Fulltime teachers will be entitled to 200 minutes of preparation time per week to be used for professional activities to sup- port student learning. Bridge pass: Members of bargaining unit will have right to retain bridge-pass privileges for Three Nations Crossing bridge for school year. EDUCATION e Board of School Trustees of School District No. 43 (Coquitlam) Coquitlam, B.C. Wage adjustments: Effective July 1, 2019: 2% Effective July 1, 2020: 2% Effective July 1, 2021: 2% Shift premium: 3% and 5% per hour to employees work- ing afternoon shift and night shift respectively. $1 per hour (previously $0.65 per hour) for employees who hold level 2 oc- cupational first-aid certificate; additional $0.10 per hour for employees who hold level 1 oc- cupational first-aid certificate. $0.50 per hour during time it takes to perform services for grounds persons working on acid traps. $0.20 per hour for painting in spray booth. Paid holidays: 12 days. Vacations with pay: 1 day per month, maximum 10 days, or 4% to start, 15 days or 6% after 2 years, 20 days or 8% after 7 years, 25 days or 10% after 15 years, 30 days or 12% after 19 years, 1 additional day after 21 years and 1 day for each ad- ditional year thereafter, maxi- mum 5 days. Employees may carry forward 1 week of vaca- tion to following year. Overtime: Time and one- half for first 2 hours worked; double time thereafter, for time worked in excess of maximum daily or weekly hours (8 hours per day; 40 hours per week). Double time for all work on normally scheduled rest days. Time may be banked and taken as time off in lieu, maximum 80 hours or 2 normal work weeks at straight-time per pay year. Any overtime in excess of max- imum will be paid to employee in pay period in which it was worked. Time may be carried forward to following year. Meal allowance: $10 will be paid to employee who works 2 or more hours of overtime (only applies to employees who work past maximum daily hours of work for their classifi- cation). Medical benefits: Employer pays 80% of premiums, em- ployee pays 20% of premiums for Medical Services Plan of B.C. coverage. Employer pays 100% of premiums for Pacific Blue Cross extended health benefits. Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Coverage of 80% for basic dental services; 60% for prosthetics, crown and bridge procedures; 60% with maxi- mum lifetime benefit of $3,500 for each insured with coverage to cease upon termination of employment for orthodontics. Vision: Coverage of $325 dur- ing any consecutive 12-month period. Sick leave: 1.5 days per month, after 3 months of service for permanent employees. 18 days, credited each Jan. 1, for 12-month employees; 15 days, credited each Jan. 1, for 10-month employees. Em- ployees will be permitted to accumulate sick leave without restriction from year to year. Life insurance: Employer pays 50% of premiums, employee pays 50% of premiums for cov- erage of $50,000. After 5 years: employer pays 75% of premi- ums, employee pays 25% of premiums; after 10 years: em- ployer pays 100% of premiums. Bereavement leave: 5 days for death of direct relative in family (husband, wife, common-law spouse (including same-sex relationship), brother, sister, parent, surrogate parent, grandparent, (not including grandparent-in-law), child, grandchild, mother-in-law, father-in-law). 1 day to at- tend funeral of brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nephew, niece. One-half day to attend funeral as pallbearer. Employee may be granted leave of absence, without pay, to attend funeral as mourner. Seniority – recall rights: 1 year after layoffs. Call-in pay: Paid from time employee leaves home to re- port for duty until employee arrives back home upon pro- ceeding directly from work (minimum 2 hours' pay at double time). Probationary period: 60 working days from effective date of appointment (may be extended further 60 working days); 60 shifts for noon-hour assistants, cashiers. Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for verbal or written adverse reports; 24 months for discipline involving suspen- sions (calculations will not in- clude periods of absence from work). Severance: 0.8% of annual sal- ary for employee with 1 year of seniority; 1.6% of annual salary for employee with 2 years of seniority; 3.2% of annual salary for employee with 5 years of seniority, maximum 6 months' salary. Maximum of 80 days of pay for employee whose age and 10 years of seniority equals 60 or greater. Safety shoes: Maximum $125 may be provided as required by WorkSafeBC for shop em- ployees. Uniforms/clothing: Employer will keep stock of heavy rain gear for all outside workers. Employer will supply suitable leather gloves or mitts and earmuffs or other protec- tive equipment and clothing. Carpenters will be provided aprons by employer. Lab coats or smocks will be supplied to teacher assistants, kitchen staff, resource-centre employees. Tool allowance: $150 per year for trades and appren- tices required to supply own hand tools. Employer will provide fire and theft insur- ance covering tools owned by employees and used in per- formance of duties, maximum $600 per employee with $30 deductible on theft. Coverage will apply while tools are on employer premises and while in transit. Mileage: $25 per month for employees who are required to use own vehicles to carry out normal assignments. $20 per month when cartage is re- quired 2 or more days per week for employees who carry equip- ment or supplies in private vehicle. Employees will also receive $0.52 per kilometre.
