EDUCATION School District No. 73 Kamloops/ompson Kamloops, B.C. (700 educators, school support employees) and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 3500 Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022. Signed on May 27, 2020. Wage adjustments: Effective July 1, 2019: 2% Effective July 1, 2020: 2% Effective July 1, 2021: 2% Shift premium: $50 per bi- weekly pay period for after- noon shift; $55 per biweekly pay period for night shift (will be paid only when employees work more than 1 hour outside day shift (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.); af- ternoon (4 p.m. to midnight); night (midnight to 8 a.m.). 1.5 hours per day night differential for steno 1 dispatcher posi- tions. $1.05 per hour (previous- ly $0.80 per hour) for employ- ees required to possess level 3 occupational first aid certifi- cate. $0.80 per hour (previously $0.60 per hour) for employees required to possess level 2 oc- cupational first aid certificate. $0.60 per hour (previously $0.40 per hour) for employees required to possess level 2 oc- cupational first aid certificate. $25 per bus driver-orientation trips, after initial orientation trip, where mandated by em- ployer for bus drivers. Paid holidays: 12 days, after 15 days of employment. Vacations with pay: 1.5 days per month, maximum 15 days, to start, 15 days after 2 years, 20 days after 6 years, 25 days after 14 years, 30 days after 20 years. 1 additional day for each year of service thereafter. Employees hired after June 30, 1995 will be limited to maximum 35 days. All vacation time must be taken by end of following year in which they were earned. Overtime: Double time for all work beyond normal workday. Double time for work on nor- mal days of rest and holidays (employee who work on holi- day will be paid overtime rates in addition to regular pay). Time may be banked, maxi- mum 5 workdays per year. All banked days must be taken by Dec. 31 of each year. Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Em- ployer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premi- ums for employee assistance program. Dental: Employer pays 75% of premiums, employee pays 25% of premiums. Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of $400 every 2 years for each family member. Sick leave: 1 2/3 days per month of service. In any 1 year when employee has not had sick leave or only portion thereof, employee will be en- titled to accrual of all unused sick leave, maximum 160 days for future benefits (employees at maximum accumulation of 160 days will accumulate at 1/2 per month). Any employee having accrued sick leave will, on retirement or termination, after 10 years of service, receive salary grant equal to 1/2 of ac- cumulated days. LTD: Benefits provided through Public Education Ben- efits Trust (PEBT). Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums for coverage of 2 times employee's annual salary. Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of parent, spouse, broth- er, sister, child, grandparent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandchild, any other relative living in same household. 2 additional days for death of spouse, child, parent, brother, sister. 1/2 day to attend funeral. Seniority – recall rights: 12 months, after 3 months of service, for layoffs; 12 months if employee is transferred to supervisory position or any other position not covered by agreement. Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours' at overtime rates for employee called in for emer- gency, paid from time em- ployee leaves home until time employee arrives back home (emergency being defined as instance where employee does not receive notification during regular hours). Probationary period: 12-week trial (if period includes sum- mer breaks, it will be extended, maximum 4 weeks). Safety shoes: Employer will provide $100 per year or $200 every 2 years for safety protec- tive footwear. Uniforms/clothing: Employee will supply protective clothing to employees who require it. Employer will pay $50 per year or $100 every 2 years for swim- suit for certified education assistants where required on regular on-going basis. Tool allowance: Employer will provide fire, theft insur- ance covering tools owned by employees and used in perfor- mance of duties with employer and left on employer's prem- ises. Bus mechanics, mechani- cal foreman will receive $75 per for tools. Shop utility autobody, shop utility tire person will receive $50 per for tools (new hand tools, air tools, power tools, specialty tools) to aid in performance of duties and employee will retain ownership of tools. Mileage: Employer will pay mileage for relief employees, based on where employee trav- els, from $25 per day up to $46 per day, maximum 20 days per assignment. Non-instructional days: Certified education assistants will be paid to attend 6 out of 6 (previously 5 out of 6) non-instructional days. Certified education assistants can be granted non-instructional days off by worksite supervisor in lieu of days owed for overnight trips. Bus driver training: Bus drivers will be paid to attend 3 days of mandatory training per year in lieu of non-instructional days. Medical exams: If driver has been required to have examination under Section 49 under Motor Vehicles Act, driver will submit examination to school district and all costs associated with physical exam will be borne by employer.
