4 Canadian HR Reporter, a Thomson Reuters business 2014 ColleCtive Agreements July 7, 2014 MUNICIPALITY Hamlet of Chesterfield Inlet Chesterfield Inlet, nunavut (42 inside and outside workers) and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), as represented by its agent Nunavut Employees Union Renewal agreement: Effec- tive April 1, 2013, to March 31, 2016. Signed on March 12, 2014. Wage adjustments: Effective April 1, 2014: 2.5% Effective April 1, 2015: 2.5% Paid holidays: 12 days. Time and one-half for first 4 hours worked on a named holiday, double time for all hours after that. Vacations with pay: 18 days to start, 4 weeks after 2 years, 5 weeks after 10 years, 6 weeks after 15 years. Overtime: Time and one-half for first 4 hours worked in ex- cess of 8 per day, double time for all hours worked after that. Double time for any hours worked on a Sunday. Time off may be taken in lieu of com- pensation. Sick leave: 1.25 days earned per year. Pension: Northern Employee Benefits Services Pension Plan. No other details available. Bereavement leave: 6 days for an immediate family member. That includes an employee's father, mother, brother, sis- ter, spouse, common-law spouse, child, step-child, adopted child, grandparent, grandchild, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, daughter-in-law, sister-in- law, son-in-law and any other relative permanently residing in the employee's household or with whom the employee resides. Call-in pay: Minimum 4 hours' pay at straight time, or compensation at appropriate overtime rate, whichever is greater. Severance: 2 week's pay for the first year of service, 2 week's pay for the second year of service, 1 week's pay for each succeeding year of service. When an employee resigns, after 4 years of em- ployment, they are entitled to pay by the following formula: number of years of service, multiplied by the weekly rate of pay, divided by 2. If an employee retires, he is en- titled to his weekly rate of pay multiplied by the number of completed years of continuous employment prior to 1993. Uniforms/clothing: For air- port maintainers, assistant mechanics, building main- tainers (water, sewage and garbage), drivers, heavy equip- ment operators, foremen and mechanics: summer coveralls, winter coveralls, summer leather gloves, winter insu- lated gloves, CSA-approved boots for summer and winter. Trades employees to receive hard hats, aprons, welding goggles, dust protection, eye protection (including safety prescription glasses) and ear protection. Tool allowance: 25¢ per hour (at 40 hours per week, $10 per week) for the use of employee's hand tools. Employees to re- ceive the pay are mechanics, assistant mechanics and Ham- let's maintenance man. Northern travel allowance: Allowance divided between 2,080 8-hour shift employees and 1,950 7-hour shift employees, to assist with travel expenses up north. Effective April 1, 2014: $25,500.
