Life insurance: Mandatory life insurance at a benefit of double the employee's annual salary. The employer pays 42.5% of premiums. Bereavement leave: 5 days for employee's father, mother, brother, sister, spouse, son, daughter, uncle, aunt, nephew, niece, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in- law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, stepfather, stepmother, stepchild, foster child, foster parent, grandpar- ent, grandchild or any person residing permanently with the employee. 1 day to act as a pallbearer. Education leave: Employees with a minimum of 5 years of continuous service who have not previously taken education leave are eligible to apply for 1 year of educational leave. Employees granted educational leave are entitled to a biweekly stipend equivalent to 70% of their salary. Legal business: 1 day. 1 day for travel may be granted to employees in rural areas. Citizenship: 1 day to obtain citizenship. Adoption or birth: 3 days. 2 additional days may be granted to employees in rural areas. Personal leave: Employees who use 5 or fewer sick days during a school year will be granted 1 personal day to be taking during the following school year. Rural personal leave: Employees working in rural areas with at least 2 years of continuous service will be granted 1 day of rural personal leave. Compassionate care leave: Up to 8 weeks. Maternity leave: 17 unpaid weeks. Parental leave: 52 unpaid weeks. Annual community allowance: $900 for Carcross; $1,110 for Haines Junction, Teslin and Carmacks; $1,700 for Watson Lake an Dawson City; $2,200 for Mayo, Ross River, Pelly Crossing, Destruction Bay, Beaver Creek and Faro; $8,200 for Old Crow.
