As a result, its 190 employees at CHCH-TV in Hamil- ton, Ont., lost their jobs. In the aftermath, Unifor — the union representing the CHCH employees — has filed several complaints against the employer with the Canada Industrial Rela- tions Board. Additionally, the federal government's labour stan- dards division has launched an investigation into the bankruptcy under the Canada Labour Code. "We understand that an investigation such as this, in the case of a bankruptcy involving employees, is stan- dard practice," said Cal Millar, president and chief op- erating officer at Channel Zero, which idirectly owns Channel 11. According to the collective agreement, there could be no so- licitation of membership dues, meetings or other union activities on college property, except as spe- cifically stated otherwise.
