Shift premium: $4 per hour Northern Allowance for em- ployees working at the Wabush, Goose Bay and Churchill Falls airports. $1 per hour when a security checkpoint coordina- tor is assigned to lead security checkpoint coordinator. $24 split shift premium. Paid holidays: 11 days. Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 4 years, 4 weeks after 10 years and 5 weeks after 15 years. Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked beyond 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week. Medical benefits: Employer pays the cost of a medical cer- tificate every 2 years. The em- ployer agrees to maintain the employee's first aid certificate following 2 years of service. Employer contributes $1.46 per hour worked to medical plan. $1.49 per hour worked effective March 31, 2017. Sick leave: Earned at 3/4 days per month worked to a total of 8 days per year. Pension: Employer and em- ployee contribute 4% to pension plan. Bereavement leave: 3 days for employee's spouse, child, father, mother, brother, sister, grand- parent, grandchild, father-in- law, mother-in-law, son-in-law or daughter-in-law. Seniority – recall rights: 18 months. Discipline: Sunset clause is 6 months for the first written rep- rimand. 1 year for subsequent reprimands issued within the first sunset clause period. Uniforms/clothing: Employer provides uniforms as required and will provide for any neces- sary alterations through the uniform provider. Surgical or other proven protective gloves must be worn at all times by all employees during physical search of both passengers and baggage. The employer pro- vides gloves. Mileage: 52¢ per km. Any travel in excess of 400 km from the airport where the employee is regularly assigned will have the option of flying to the des- tination. Sample rates of pay (current, after 2.25% increase): Screening officers: $17.23 per hour rising in 4 steps to $20.83 Editor's notes: Education fund: The employer will contribute $1,500 to Locals 5319 and 9342, respectively, each calendar year for the union's Education Fund. Wedding day: 1 paid day for employee's wedding. Birth or adoption: 3 paid days. Court leave: An employee called to serve as a witness will be paid as if he had worked for the time spent in court, including travel. Jury and crown witness leave: An employee called to serve as a juror or crown witness must inform his employer as soon as he receives the subpoena. The employee will be paid the difference between his jury or witness duty fee and his regular wages. First aid: The employer will make first-aid facilities available at the work site. Training: Training will be offered on a seniority basis. In the event an employee is not successful during training, the employee will not be considered a priority for the same training in the next year. TRANSPORTATION Coventry Connections Niagara Niagara Peninsula, Ont. (230 taxi operators) and the Teamsters Canada Local 879 Renewal agreement: Effective April 28, 2015, to April 27, 2019. Signed on April 28, 2015. Paid holidays: 8 days. Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked on a holi- day. Bereavement leave: 3 days' rental credit for the death of the employee's spouse, father, mother, son, daughter, brother or sister. 1 day for the employ- ee's stepparent, father-in-law or mother-in-law. Seniority – recall rights: An employee loses seniority by fail- ing to rent an available vehicle for more than 6 months. Probationary period: 90 cal- endar days. Discipline: Sunset clause is 2 years for disciplinary records involving sexual harassment, sexual assault, theft, taxi vouch- er fraud or refusal of a guide an- imal. 1 year for all other records of discipline or misconduct. Sample rates of pay, current: Day shift Fort Erie drivers: $452.50 per week rising in 3 steps to $500 Grimsby drivers: $452.50 rising in 3 steps to $500 Niagara Falls drivers: $552.50 rising in 3 steps to $600 Day shift St. Catharines drivers: $530 rising in 3 steps to $625 Night shift St. Catharines driv- ers: $530 rising in 3 steps to $690 Editor's notes: Change: Employees must have change for $20 at all times. Vehicles: No vehicles are to be left unat- tended. Except while a new-hire is being trained, no person other than an authorized taxi driver will be in the taxi cab while the vehicle is occupied with a paying fare. Union fees: $25 per month to a maximum of $50 after the completion of the probationary period. This fee will continue until the initiation fee is paid in full. Contracting out: The employer will not contract out bargaining unit work. Supervisors, dispatch staff, telephone staff, office staff, clerical staff, ga- rage staff, monitors or any other employees outside the bargaining unit will not perform bargaining unit work. Sur- charges: All transactions with debit or credit cards are subject to a $1.50 charge. Cash advances: Cash advances are not permitted. Training will be offered to employees on a seniority basis. Employees must have change for $20 at all times.
