4 Canadian HR Reporter, a Thomson Reuters business 2016 COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS July 4, 2016 COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS Editor's notes: Holiday pay: An employee who works a paid holiday can be paid for the holiday or bank the holiday to be taken at a mutually agreeable time. If any of the paid holidays are worked, they shall be paid for at 2 times the regular hourly rate for such hours worked in addition to pay for the holiday. Overtime: May be banked in hours, up to a maximum of 160, to the credit of the employee and such time will be in the ratio of time and one-half (1 Y2) for each overtime hour worked or part thereof. TRANSPORTATION Overland Express Windsor, Ont. (9 office employees) and Teamsters Canada, Local 879 Renewal agreement: Effective March 6, 2016, to March 5, 2019. Signed on March 6, 2016. Wage adjustments: Cambridge: Effective March 6, 2017: 1.6% Effective March 5, 2018: 2% Windsor: Effective March 6, 2017: 1.2% Effective March 5, 2018: 1.6% (Calculated by CLR.) Paid holidays: 11 days. Vacations with pay: 2 weeks after 1 year, 3 weeks after 5 years, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 18 years, 6 weeks after 25 years. Overtime: Time and one-half for all hours worked beyond 5 working days (Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Sat- urday) of 7.5 hours each (37.5 hours per week). For employees assigned to Monday to Friday, work commencing Saturday and Sunday will be considered apremium days. For employ- ees assigned to a Tuesday to Saturday shift, work commenc- ing Sunday and Monday will be considered premium days. Time and one-half for all hours worked on a premium day. Medical benefits: The employ- er pays basic cost of coverage provided by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan. The company provides Health and Welfare Plan for all employees who have completed their 45-day probationary period equal to that provided by the Teamsters Local 879. Pension: A "money purchase" type plan. For employees with up to 5 years' service: employee share 2% of regular earnings per week, employer share 2% of regular earnings per week. For employees with 5 to 10 years of service: employee share 4% of regular earnings per week, em- ployer share 4% of regular earn- ings per week. For employees with 10 or more years of service: employee share 5% of regular earnings per week, employer share 5% of regular earnings per week. Bereavement leave: 3 paid days for death of mother, father, husband, wife, son, daughter, sister, brother, grandparents, grandchildren, stepparents, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law. Sample rates of pay (current): Classification 1 (payroll, cash- ier, tracing, OS&D, operations clerk) Cambridge: $17.37 rising in 2 steps to $18 Windsor: $17.50 rising in 2 steps to $18. Editor's notes: Overtime: If employee is required to work on 11 recognized holidays, he shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half his regular rate of pay in addition to receiving statutory holiday pay. Bereavement leave: 3 days with pay for death of employ- ee's spouse, parents or step- parents, child or stepchild, siblings, mother- or father-in- law, grandparents or spouse's grandparents, with 2 extra days if deceased is spouse or child. 1 day with pay for fu- neral if outside the 3-5 days. Seniority – recall rights: 1 year if less than 5 years' service, 18 months if more than 5. Call-in pay: 4 hours minimum, 6 hours' pay if exceeds 4 hours' work, 8 hours' pay if exceeds 6 hours' work. Probationary period: 1 month. Discipline: Sunset clause is 1 year. 18 months for safety viola- tions. Safety shoes: $100 per year, with option to combine 2 years for higher quality boot. Uniforms/clothing: Uniform covered by company. Coveralls and freight handling gloves for warehouse employees. Sample rates of pay (current): Tractor: $23.39 Straight truck: $23.29 Dock: $23.29 Editor's notes: Medical exams: 2 hours' pay if employee gets exam outside regular working hours. General leave: Up to 2 months with no loss of seniority. Certificates: Company will pay for all certificates required by company or law.
