The three-year agreement will be in effect from Aug. 1, 2016, to July 31, 2019. The deal calls for 2.5 per cent annual increase in salary each year starting in Aug. 1, 2016, 2017 and 2018, said the union, as well as better group insurance and pensions, improvements to job postings, severance pay- outs, better defind overtime policies and upgraded bullying and harassment policies. Serving 41 million passen- gers in 2015, Toronto Pearson is Canada's largest airport and North America's second-largest international passenger airport, as measured by the total num- ber of annual passengers. OPSSU returns to table with OPSEU TORONTO — The Ontario Public Service Staff Union (OPSSU) and Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OP- SEU) returned to the bargaining table with a conciliator. If a deal is not reached, OP- SEU staff could be on strike or locked out as early as the end of August. OPSSU voted 68 per cent to reject a tentative agreement and authorize strike action if neces- sary. The union has not voted down an agreement in 20 years. "Our members gave the bar- gaining team a strong man- date to return to the table. We expect that the employer will come prepared to bargain a fair deal," said OPSSU president Pati Habermann. The current collective agree- ment expired June 30, 2016. OPSSU represents workers at OPSEU's head office in Toronto and at 19 regional offices across Ontario. Staff provide services to more than 130,000 members.
