5 Canadian HR Reporter, a Thomson Reuters business 2017 CANADIAN LABOUR REPORTER COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS CONSTRUCTION Electrical Contractors Association of New Brunswick Provincewide, New Brunswick (350 electricians) and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 502 Renewal agreement: Effective July 18, 2016, to Dec. 31, 2018. Signed on July 8, 2016. Shift premium: $4 per hour above journeyman rate for foremen. $6 per hour above journeyman rate for general foremen. Any shift that begins outside the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. will be paid 125% of journeyman rate. On Saturday or Sunday, any shift that begins 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. will be paid 200% of the journeyman rate. Any Saturday or Sunday shift outside the hours 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. will be paid 250% of the journeyman rate. Paid holidays: 10 days. Vacations with pay: 10% of gross earnings. Additional 1% for all paid holidays. Overtime: Double time for all excess hours worked. Meal allowance: $20 for working more than 2 hours of overtime. Pension: IBEW Welfare and Pension Fund. Uniforms/clothing: Hard hats, winter liners, suitable chin straps, rain suits, rubber boots natural or man-made leather- palmed gloves will be supplied by the employer. Tool allowance: The following is required of each journeyman: adequate tool box, steel tape 16', claw hammer (commercial only), hacksaw frame, keyhole saw (commercial only), crescent wrenches not over 12" (formerly 2), small set Allen wrenches, electricians pliers 9" (Klein), channel lock pliers 11" (Klein), needle nose pliers, 2 flat screwdrivers (small, large), 3 Robinson screwdrivers (nos. 6, 8, 10), electricians' knife, centre punch, torpedo level, 1 set Phillips screwdrivers, 1 set 3/8" drive (ratchet, extension, sockets ¼" to ¾"), 1 600-volt tester, side cutters (diagonal pliers), 4 combination or speed wrenches (7/16", ½", 9/16", ¾"). Employer will provide fire and theft insurance for tools, maximum $450 coverage per incident. Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 3% increase): Category of work Commercial: $56.82 rising 2 steps to $58.51 Industrial: $57.55 rising 2 steps to $59.24 Local 502 IBEW market recovery wage package 1T: $34.42 rising 2 steps to $35.42 1.5T: $51.38 rising 2 steps to $52.88 2T: $68.34 rising 2 steps to $70.34 Editor's notes: Damaged clothes: Employee's clothing burned or destroyed as a result of an accident while on the job, will be replaced by the employer. Required training: All employees shall hold and maintain valid safety training in the following NBCSA safety training courses: WHMIS including the recognized Globally Harmonized System (GHS), safety orientation, fall protection basic for workers, confined space awareness. Costs shall be paid by union's training fund. Shelter: Employers will provide a room heated to 65 degrees Fahrenheit, for employees to change their clothes and eat their lunch. UTILITIES Manitoba Hydro Provincewide, Manitoba (2,875 workers, service and maintenance employees) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (AFL-CIO/CLC) Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2016, to Dec. 31, 2018. Ratified on Jan. 13, 2016. Wage adjustments: Effective Jan. 1, 2016: 2.5% Effective Jan. 1, 2017: 2% Effective Jan. 1, 2018: 2% Shift premium: 6.7% per shift addition premium for employ- ees regularly working a 2 or 3-shift schedule operating on a continuous basis, 24 hours per day. $1.31 per hour for shift schedule between 4 p.m. and 8 a.m. $3.73 per hour for shifts on Saturdays or Sundays and corporation holidays. $7.27 per hour for each hour or part of an hour worked at or above a height of 100 feet above ground level. Paid holidays: 12 days. Any employee wishing to take Easter Monday as a vacation day will be guaranteed that day off. Vacations with pay: 2 weeks to start, 3 weeks after 3 years, 4 weeks after 10 years, 5 weeks after 20 years. Up to 20 days can be carried over. All em- ployees working at least 50% of full-time hours receive up to 5 benefit credit days which can be allotted to their health spending account, vacation or a combina- tion of both. Employees with 29 or more years of service receive up to 5 additional working days per year, which can be carried over. Employees at northern locations receive, depending on remoteness of location and ser- vice, 4 to 12 additional days. Overtime: Double time for all overtime worked. Minimum 2 hours if commencing more than 2 hours after normally scheduled quitting time or on normal day of rest. Triple time for all overtime worked beyond 16 consecutive hours. Can be banked for leave of absence. Meal allowance: For employ- ees engaged in work away from normal place of work or head- quarters zone, $52.35 per diem: $9.70 for breakfast, $17.30 for lunch, $25.35 for supper. Medical benefits: Cost shared for Extended Health Benefits Plan. Dental: Cost shared for dental plan. 90 per cent reimburse- ment for basic care, 75 per cent for major work, 50 per cent for orthodontics. Vision care: $400 every 24 months for each employee and eligible dependant. Sick leave: 18 days per year to start, 26 days per year after 64 pay periods of service, 246 days maximum accrual. LTD: Company funds long- term disability plan. Life insurance: Company and employees both contribute to group life insurance plan. Bereavement leave: Up to 3 paid days for death of sibling, sibling-in-law, grandparent, grandparent-in-law, grandchild. Up to 5 paid days for death of spouse, child, parent, parent- in-law. Up to 3 paid days for death of relative who had been permanently residing in household. Up to 1 paid day to attend funeral as pallbearer or other funeral official. Seniority – recall rights: 5 years. Call-in pay: Minimum 3 hours at double time for call out on normal day of rest. Probationary period: 0.5 year (958 hours). Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months. Severance: 23.76 hours of pay for each complete year of ser- vice beyond 25 years of service. Prorated for partial years. Paid at time of termination, retire- ment, or death.
