4 Canadian HR Reporter, a Thomson Reuters business 2017 COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS March 13, 2017 TRANSPORTATION Diversified Transportation Fort McMurray, Alta. (440 bus drivers) and Teamsters Canada, Local 362 Renewal agreement: Effective Jan. 1, 2016, to Dec. 31, 2018. Signed on June 30, 2016. Shift premium: All trips on Remembrance Day, Christmas Day and New Years' Day will include a 50% premium on the trip rate. $1.50 per hour for all Syncrude shifts beginning be- tween 9 p.m. and 4:59 a.m. Paid holidays: 11 days. Vacations with pay: 2 weeks to start, 3 weeks or 6% after 3 years, 4 weeks or 8% after 5 years, 5 weeks or 10% after 8 years, 6 weeks or 12% after 18 weeks. Overtime: Time and one-half after regular hours. May be banked, maximum 120 hours per year. Medical benefits: Effective Jan. 1, 2018, employer will pay 100% of premiums (previously 80%) for Prairie Teamsters Health and Welfare Plan (90% paid ef- fective Jan. 1, 2017). Employer pays 50% or premiums for Al- berta Health and Wellness. Pension: Teamsters Prairie Provinces' Pension Plan. Bereavement leave: 4 days for death in immediate family (spouse, common-law, step- mother, stepfather, mother, father, guardian, sons, daugh- ters, stepchild, brothers, sisters, grandparent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, grandchildren, any other immediate family recognized under the Canadian Labour Code). Seniority – recall rights: 6 months. Probationary period: 90 days. Discipline: Sunset clause is 6 months for operational matters, 24 months for preventable ac- cidents and infractions covered under the Highway Traffic Act. Safety shoes: $150 per year. Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide 1 jacket, 2 ties, 3 pants, 3 shirts, 1 uniform cap. $300 per year for other approved uniform clothing purchase. Sample rates of pay (current): Syncrude/Suncor coach 3-hour trip rate: $124.41 Albian/Aurora coach 4-hour trip rate: $165.89 Hourly coach rate: $35.86 3-hour trip Y3: $104.77 Hourly Y1: $34.45 Regular drivers: $34.52 Probationary drivers: $26.33 Editor's notes: PDIC certification: As a requirement of continued employment, all employees must acquire and maintain certification in an accepted PDIC program or a recognized equivalent. The company will pay the fees required on behalf of all employees. Leave of absence: All employees with 25 or more years of service, will receive 90 consecutive days leave of absence per year. Teamster Local 362 advancement fund: Employer will deduct $0.05 per hour per employee for the fund. Local living allowance: To offset living expenses in Fort McMurray: $1,000 per month (previously $1,325 per month). TRANSPORTATION Seaspan Ferries Coastal Region, British Columbia (30 licensed personnel) and Canadian Merchant Service Guild Renewal agreement: Effective Oct. 1, 2013, to Sept. 30, 2020. Signed on Aug. 18, 2016. Wage adjustments: Effective Oct. 1, 2016: 2% Effective Oct. 1, 2017: 2% Effective Oct. 1, 2018: 2% or COLA Effective Oct. 1, 2019: 2% or COLA Paid holidays: 12 days. Vacations with pay: 14 days or 4% after 1 year, 21 days or 6% after 2 years, 28 days or 8% after 7 years, 35 days or 10% after 15 years, 42 days or 12% after 22 years, additional 2% after 30 years. Overtime: Double time. Meal allowance: $44 per day (previously $36 per day), when meals are not provided. Medical benefits: Employer will pay union $850 per employee per month (previously $826) in lieu of providing health benefits plan. Employer pays 100% of premiums for B.C. Medical Services Plan. Pension: Employer contributes 8.5% per officer per month, employee contributes 7.5% per month to Canadian Merchant Service Guild Western Branch Pension Plan. Employer will pay 1% contribution per officer per month for retirement benefits. Bereavement leave: 4 days for death of immediate family (spouse, common- law partner, father, mother, spouse or common-law partner of the father, mother, children, children of the spouse or common-law partner, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, grandfather, grandmother, father, mother of the spouse or common-law partner, spouse or common-law partner of father, mother, any relative who resides with the employee). Seniority – recall rights: 18 months. Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours' pay. Probationary period: 6 months. Severance: 1 week's pay for each year. Safety shoes: $150 per year (previously $125 per year) or $300 every 2 years. Uniforms/clothing: Officers: 3 sets of shirts, pants dress wear per year; 1 pair of coveralls per year; D.O.T.-approved floater coat or vest once every 3 years. Engineers: 2 pairs of 100% cotton coveralls per year. Tool allowance: Company will provide all hand tools. Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after 4% increase): Master: $58.65 rising 2 steps to $61.02 First officer: $48.39 rising 2 steps to $50.35 Second officer: $45.77 rising 2 steps to $47.61 Chief engineer: $53.87 rising 2 steps to $56.05 Second engineer: $48.39 rising 2 steps to $50.35 Third engineer: $45.77 rising 2 steps to $47.61 Editor's notes: Officer's accommodation: Each officer will be provided with a single berth cabin, first-class linen, towels, facecloths. Officers will be entitled to the services of the ship's steward including the supply of fresh linen and towels as required. Officers' quarters, bathrooms, alleyways, mess rooms to be painted every 2 years. Traveling expenses: When an officer is temporarily dispatched to or discharged from a vessel away from her home port, the company will provide travel insurance of $200,000 for each officer. Employer is responsible for the officer's transpor- tation, wages, board and lodging until returned to her designated home port. Marine disaster: Maximum $1,500 for loss of clothing, tools, equipment, personal effects through marine mishap, vessel disaster or ship wreck.
