CP, police
association
reach tentative
agreement
CALGARY — Canadian Pacific
(CP) and the Canadian Pacific
Police Association (CPPA) an-
nounced a tentative five-year
agreement on Nov. 17.
"CP is proud to announce an-
other long-term agreement with
a valued union partner, this time

president and CEO.
Highlights of the five-year
deal include a wage increase,
added compassionate leave, ex-
panded training opportunities
and an enhanced relocation ex-
pense allowance, according to
the company.
The memorandum of settle-
ment has been forwarded for re-
view of the CPPA members and a
ratification vote is expected to be
conducted soon, said CP.
Correctional
offi cers
sign deal
OTTAWA — The Union of Ca-
nadian Correctional Officers
(UCCO) reached an agreement
in principle with the Treasury
Board on Nov. 16 for 7,400 em-
ployees.
"The government finally
recognizes the dangerous and
unique work of correctional of-
ficers in the Canadian public ser-

president of UCCO.
The deal was agreed to 42
months after the expiry of the
last agreement, said the union.
Laurentian
Bank union
to change
MONTREAL — The Lauren-

vised by the Canada Industrial
Relations Board (CIRB) that a
motion was received on Nov. 16
from a group of Laurentian Bank
employees asking to revoke the
Canadian Office and Profession-
al Employees (COPE), Local 434

of its unionized employees.
The majority of these employ-

are employed in corporate of-

As set out in the applicable
legislation, a CIRB officer has
been designated to supervise
the next steps of this motion, ac-
cording to Laurentian Bank.
Radiation
therapists
join Ontario
association
MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — The
Ontario Nurses' Association
(ONA) welcomed 69 radiation
therapists on Nov. 20 as the
group voted to join the union.
"We are honoured that ra-
diation therapists have trusted
ONA to best represent them. It
demonstrates once again that
health-care professionals rec-
ognize ONA as the obvious
choice when it comes to choos-
ing a union," said Linda Haslam-
Stroud, ONA president.
The employees work at the
Credit Valley Hospital in Missis-
sauga, Ont.
The ONA represents about
65,000 registered nurses and
health-care professionals, as
well as 16,000 nursing student
affiliates, all in the province of
Ontario.
