3 Canadian HR Reporter, a HAB Press business 2020 Effective Jan. 1, 2022: 2% Shift premium: 10% of employee's regular rate for work performed in management position. $1.50 per hour for transit-, school-bus operators who train new transit-, school-bus operators. 110% for maintenance lead-hand. 115% of heavy duty mechanic's hourly rate for maintenance coordinator. $1.50 per hour for transit operator performing route work after 7 p.m. or later. $1.50 per hour when working any shift beginning at 2 p.m. for maintenance staff. $1.50 per hour for transit-operations coordinator working after 7 p.m. or later Paid holidays: 11 days. Vacations with pay: 1 to 10 days (based on month started work) to start, 10 days after 1 years, 3 weeks after 3 years, 4 weeks after 8 years, 5 weeks after 17 years, 6 weeks after 24 years (previously 25 years). Overtime: Time and one-half for first 2 hours worked after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week; double time thereafter. Double time for all work on regular days off. Double time for all work by maintenance staff after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week. No employee will be required to take time off in lieu of overtime worked. Employee may bank maximum 80 hours at applicable rate but once employee has banked 80 hours, any subsequent overtime will be paid at applicable overtime rate. Meal allowance: Meals, as per current City of Lethbridge per-diem rates, will be paid provided charter is longer than 6 hours from scheduled group's pick-up and drop-off times. Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Life insurance: Employee pays 100% of premiums. Pension: Employer will contribute 5%, employee will contribute 5% (previously 4%) for school bus operator into RRSP. Permanent employees must participate in Local Authorities Pension Plan and make pension contributions as required by Local Authorities Pension Plan Act. Bereavement leave: 3 days for death of immediate relative, includes spousal or common- law spousal immediate relative (son, daughter, spouse, mother, father, sister, brother, mother- in-law, father-in-law, brother-in- law, sister-in-law, grandfather, grandmother, legal guardians, grandchildren, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, grandfather-in-law, grandmother-in-law, stepfather, stepmother, stepchild). Employee may apply for extra traveling time, maximum 2 days. 4 hours off with pay if funeral is held within City of Lethbridge (8 hours off with pay if funeral is outside of city) when employee acts as pallbearer on day scheduled to work. Seniority – recall rights: 1 year for employee who accepts non- ATU, Local 987 permanent position within Lethbridge. Call-in pay: Minimum 2 hours of pay at time and one half employee's regular rate of pay for initial 2 hours, double time employee's regular rate of pay for all time thereafter (minimum 2 hours' for first call- in of day; 1.5 hours' pay for each call-in thereafter). Minimum 1.75 hours of pay for morning, afternoon runs; 1.5 hours' pay for third runs for school bus operators, including standby school bus operators. Probationary period: 12 months; 12 months or 350 hours (whichever comes first) for school bus operators, standby school bus operators. Discipline: Sunset clause is 24 months. Severance: 1.5 weeks of regular pay for each year of service, maximum 5 years plus 2 weeks of regular pay for each additional year of service, maximum 52 weeks of pay plus lump-sum payment of $2,500 when under Voluntary Separation Incentive Option (VSIO) for employees with 5 years of service. Safety shoes: $100 footwear allowance will be paid to transit operators, transit coordinators, dispatchers each year. Employer will provide $250 boot allowance to all mechanics, lube tech/welders, maintenance employees every year. Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide: 4 pairs of pants, 2 pairs of shorts, 5 shirts (employee may select long or short sleeves, golf shirts), 1 sweater, 1 3-season jacket, 1 summer jacket, 1 baseball cap (employee option), 1 toque (employee option). For operations coordinator, relief dispatchers, employer will provide: 2 coordinator- specific shirts (employee may select long or short sleeve), 1 coordinator-specific 3-season jacket. Employer will provide $200 for maternity-uniform clothing for pregnant female employees. Mechanics will be supplied with 5 coveralls per year for 3 years and 1 storm jacket with detachable hood. Tool allowance: Employer will provide $600 per year to transit-department mechanics, auto-body mechanics; $200 to transit-department lube- technicians. Employer will pay for all specialty tools required due to technological or equipment changes within maintenance area. Transportation: Free conventional transit will be granted to all ATU 987 members who are employed with Lethbridge Transit (ATU 987 identification is required). Free conventional transit will be granted to retired ATU 987 members by means of issuing of pass by employer that must be presented upon boarding.
