5 Canadian HR Reporter, a HAB Press business 2020 CANADIAN LABOUR REPORTER COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS CONSTRUCTION Mechanical Contractors Association of New Brunswick Provincewide, New Brunswick (750 plumbers, steamfitter/pipefitters, mechanics, apprentices) and the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada (UA), Local 325 Renewal agreement: Effective May 1, 2019 to Dec. 31, 2021. Signed on April 30, 2019. Shift premium: 15% for work other than day shift. If employee works through meal period, double time rates will apply until appropriate meal period is given. Paid holidays: 11 days. Vacations with pay: Employer will pay 11% vacation and holiday pay weekly based on basic hourly rate of employee. Overtime: Double time, except for service work at regular rate, maximum 3 hours, if employee started job prior to end of shift (4:30 p.m.). If employee arrives back to shop and is sent back out for service call after 4:30 p.m., employee will be paid at time and one-half, which will prevail for all overtime hours. Meal allowance: Employee will receive hot meal supplied by employer and consumed during break on employer's time for employees who work overtime for 2 hours without previous time off for meal and without being notified prior to end of previous shift. $20 will be paid in lieu of meal if meal cannot be provided. Medical benefits: Employer will contribute $3.36 per hour (previously $3.31 per hour) to provincial health and welfare trust fund. Effective Jan. 1, 2021: $3.41 per hour. Pension: Employer will contribute $5.83 per hour (previously $5.55 per hour) to provincial health and welfare trust fund. Effective Jan. 1, 2021: $6.12 per hour. Employee will contribute $0.50 per hour to pension plan. Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide rain suits, rubber boots where conditions on job make it necessary. Mileage: Compensation for long travel: $1.88 per hour worked more than 50 kilometres 1-way from residence to job site; $2.50 per hour worked for between 70 kilometres and 89 kilometres 1-way from residence to job site; $12.25 per hour worked (previously $11.25 per hour worked) for more than 90 kilometres from employee's residence to job site. Sample rates of hourly pay (current, after increase): Apprentices (% of current journeyman rate) Level 1 (hired 50%): $15.07 rising 2 steps to $15.78 Level 2 (900 hours worked 55%): $16.58 rising 2 steps to $17.36 Level 3 (1,800 hours worked 60%): $18.08 rising 2 steps to $18.94 Level 4 (2,700 hours worked 65%): $19.59 rising 2 steps to $20.51 Level 5 (3,600 hours worked 70%): $21.10 rising 2 steps to $22.09 Level 6 (4,500 hours worked 75%): $22.61 rising 2 steps to $23.67 Level 7 (5,400 hours worked 80%): $24.11 rising 2 steps to $25.25 Level 8 (6,300 hours worked 85%): $25.62 rising 2 steps to $26.83 Level 9 (7,200 hours worked 90%): $27.13 rising 2 steps to $28.40 Certificate of qualification successfully completed: 100% Journeymen: $30.14 rising 2 steps to $31.56 Foremen: $4 above journeyman rate General foremen: $5 above journeyman rate Natural gas fitter/service technicians: $30.14 rising 2 steps to $31.56 G2 (+1,000 hours 85%): $25.62 rising 2 steps to $26.83 G2 certification (with less than 400 hours 65%): $19.59 rising 2 steps to $20.51 G2 certification (with 400 hours 75%): $22.61 rising 2 steps to $23.67 Entry-level (50%): $15.07 rising 2 steps to $15.78 Editor's notes: Welding tests: Minimum 4 hours' pay — and applicable travel or board — for employee required to take job-specific welding test during regular hours while employed by employer. Safety training: Employer will contribute $0.10 per hour to provincial journeymen and apprenticeship training fund. Service work: Any hours worked as overtime will be paid at time and one-half employee's basic hourly rate. Employees on-call for service work will be paid $100 per week if no calls are received. Management administration fund: Employer will contribute $0.20 for every hour worked by journeyman or apprentice to Mechanical Contractors Association of New Brunswick. Training fund: Employer will contribute $0.45 for each hour worked to provincial journeymen and apprenticeship training fund. HOTELS Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Lake Louise, Alta.
