5 Canadian HR Reporter, a HAB Press business 2020 CANADIAN LABOUR REPORTER COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS EDUCATION Yellowknife Public Denominational District Education Authority (Yellowknife Catholic Schools) Yellowknife (110 administrative officers) and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) as represented by its agent the Union of Northern Workers (UNW) Renewal agreement: Effective July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2022. Signed on July 1, 2019. Paid holidays: 11 days, plus National Indigenous Peoples Day. Vacations with pay: 15 days or 6% after 1 year, 20 days or 8% after 3 years, 25 days or 10% after 11 years, 30 days or 12% after 20 years. Employees are permitted to carry over maximum 10 days of vacation credit from 1 year to next. All other vacation days not taken will be liquidated. Overtime: Time and one-half for all work after 7, 7.5 or 8 hours per day. Double time for all work on holidays, Sundays. May be taken as time off in lieu, maximum of 5 days. Time may be carried over into following school year but all carry-over must be used in that year. Medical benefits: Employer pays 100% of premiums. When employee or dependant requires non-elective medical-care not available in Yellowknife, employer will pay most economical return airfare to Edmonton. Employer will provide reimbursement for meals, accommodation, ground transportation, other medical travel costs, maximum $200 per day, maximum 14 days. Employer will provide $500 per school year for health spending account. Dental: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Vision: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Sick leave: 2 days per month, maximum 20 days per year. ln circumstances where sick leave would have been authorized, but employee has insufficient or no entitlement, employee will be granted leave in advance, maximum 20 days. LTD: Employer pays 100% of premiums. AD&D: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Life insurance: Employer pays 100% of premiums. Pension: Employer will maintain DB pension plan. Employer, participating employee will each make contributions in keeping with formula provided by actuary. Bereavement leave: 10 days for death of mother, father, child or spouse. 5 days for death in immediate family (sibling, stepparent, stepsibling, stepchild, spouse's parent, grandchild, grandparent, person who has acted as employee's legal guardian before age of majority, any relative residing in employee's household). Employer will reimburse employee cost of travelling out of Yellowknife (reimbursement will not exceed cost of bereavement return airfare to Edmonton). Seniority – recall rights: 24 months for layoffs. Call-in pay: Greater of compensation at appropriate overtime rate or compensation equivalent to 4 hours' pay at straight-time rate Probationary period: First 12 months worked for 12-month employees; first 10 months for 10-month employees; first 11 months for 11-month employees. Discipline: Sunset clause is 18 months for document or written statement related to disciplinary action. Severance: 2 weeks' pay per year for first 5 years of employment; 3 weeks' pay per year for each year of employment that exceeds 5 years, maximum 52 weeks. Uniforms/clothing: Employer will provide maintenance employees with safety clothing, footwear, equipment, clothing identifying them as employees, as required. Casual leave: Employees may be granted casual leave with pay, maximum 2 hours, for necessary appointments with doctor, dentist, lawyer during work hours, or for other purposes of special or unusual nature. Standby: $50 per day (previously $36 per day); $75 per day (previously $44 per day) on Saturdays, Sundays, designated holidays. 2 hours of pay at applicable overtime rate where employee on standby checks employer-operated buildings during standby. If employee on standby for building checks works more than 2 hours during standby, employee will have option of being paid out for overtime or taking time off in lieu. Employee-service recognition: In appreciation of continuous service, employee will be honoured and recognized: $500 after 5 years; $1,000 after 10 years; $1,500 after 15 years; $2,000 after 20 years; $2,500 after 25 years; $3,000 after 30 years; $3,500 after 35 years. First aid: Employer will offer first aid, CPR courses to meet requirements under Safety Act. Employees, who take first aid, CPR courses, including refresher courses, will be granted leave with pay for courses and employer will assume cost of courses. Housing allowance: $475 per month Housing allowance: $475 per month to regular employees.
